On hold pattern now

SpacerGel procedure was done on Oct. 3, 2022. Then schedule the 5 proton radiation treatments. Houston we have a problem. The subsequent MRI on Oct. 7 indicated that the spacer gel placement was not successful. I now have to wait 6 months until body absorbs all the gel and the anal wall heals. Test PSA again in December. Virtual visit with urologist Jan. 5, 2023. Then consider the options of redoing the spacer gel and do the 5 proton treatments or a longer course of a lower dose of proton radiation.

Sorry to hear BB_1, I have Fiducials and SpaceOAR scheduled for 10/21. I hate that we have to deal with this disease but not an option ( that we want to live with). Wishing you the best.

Thank you. Now I am asking still to go forward with the proton radiation but a lower dose with more treatments. Let's see what happens, Good luck on your end. No pun intended.

It may be fully explainable, but I would be concerned about the skill of the doc given the Spaceoar failure. I just had HDR Brachytherapy with spaceoar at UCLA and they managed the whole process flawlessly. The spaceoar is easy for them and we never even discussed it not working out.
