So I had my RPR surgery done this past Thursday at Faulker (B&W) in Boston. The surgeon and staff were fantastic. Recovery much harder then expected. 3 months ago I began preparing for this surgery by hiking 2-3 hours a day, 7 days a week, kettle bell exercises every other day and so so many kegels. This was my 23 general surgery. Everything from 4 mastoid operations, both rotator cuffs, hernias, colon polyps, kidney stones, both knees, ruptured achilles and more. I have the cath in and it will not be removed until New Year’s Eve. Can not wait to get it out. Our pets and grandkids don't know why Pappi will be avoiding them until then.

Holy crap...... we’ve got Lee Majors (Bionic Man) in the group!!!!
Best of luck with your recovery in the New Year.
Kids are resilient! As far as pets go, I know you can lock your wife and dog in your trunk, come back and let them out in a couple hours and your dog is still glad to see you!!!
Merry Christmas

Don’t make me laugh. Last night when my wife was helping with cath she started laughing about how we got to this point in life. I too started laughing and boy did it hurt. 😂😂
Wow........ I think you forgot about your circumcision...
You spend so much time in hospitals they ought to put you on their payroll.....
You know why they call it a Foley.... cause when they pull that damn thing out of your willie, you scream "HOLY FOLEY."..

With me, it was not the Foley that caused me pain. It was the drain they had installed in my side. I had gotten off the pain meds by then and had no idea that drain would feel like a sword being withdrawn from my gut. If I had known what to expect, I would have taken the pain meds in advance. Boy, did I yell! It unnerved the uro so much he stopped half way through the process of removing the drain. I asked him how much had been removed so far. When he told me half, I told him to go for it, then gritted my teeth and prepared myself mentally for the ordeal. Once it was out there was no more pain, so I was good to go. Word to the wise, take pain meds before having drain removed.
As the saying goes "Better you than me"...... Not playing can you top this.... But I had a endorectal MRI which felt like a hot poker up my rectum for 45 minutes.... All I could do was use four letter words to get me through it... (i'd rather get poked in the eye with a stick).....Well at least it gives us something to talk about at Holiday dinners with the relatives.....Stay Well and -

FWIW --
a) If the pets are well-behaved, you will probably be OK with a Foley catheter and leg bag. I wouldn't walk around naked -- that strange yellow tube will invite too much curiosity.<g>
If the pets are a rambunctious larger dog, "no contact" is a good policy. If you're having "open surgery" (not robotic), your lower abdominal muscles _should not be strained_ for several weeks after surgery.
b) When my Foley came out, it wasn't really painful. And oh, did it feel nice to be rid of it!
. . . Bring pads, or diapers, or padded underwear,
. . . to get you home after that visit to the doc.
