MRI Fusion Biopsy Tomorrow

Tomorrow is my MRI Fusion Biopsy with Dr. Yuan in Decatur GA.

I am very stressed to have the procedure. This is the first experience in a surgery setting. Thanks for all of the support from the group. I have no other men in my life that I can discuss what I am going through so your strength has helped me through this difficult journey of discovery.

Wishing you all the best with your procedure. I had my MRI biopsy last October and it was quite easy. Are they putting you under? I had no discomfort from it at all. Of course there was the stress of wondering what they will find. In my case I was so convinced that it was just a routine procedure and that they wouldn’t find anything and I’d go on my way! Of course it didn’t work out that way! Just know that you are going to be ok no matter what and that we are all thinking of

you during this stressful period.

All the best

I will be put under. Were your biopsy through the rectum or perineal? What type of treatment did you have after the results?

I am trying to stay positive but my mind does wonder how to handle the negative.

Thanks for the encouragement.

It was through the rectum. I ended up having a robotic surgery to remove the prostate. My urologist who performed the biopsy was trying to get me to do hifu. But it really felt like a sales pitch to me although the selling points were really appealing. Less side effects, practically no recovery time. It was also not covered by my insurance so out of pocket 25 grand! I went to two other specialist for second opinion. One recommended active surveillance which I really liked because it meant not doing anything! But even he said I was a borderline candidate for that, and the other two doctors both said that with my biopsy results, I would be “foolish” to not seek treatment. I ended up going with surgery, my prostate was to enlarged for the hifu to work optimally. I am cancer free at this point so the surgery worked out. Recovery was not to bad, a couple weeks of unpleasantness and about a month to 6 weeks of being tired a lot. Incontinence has not been much of an issue for me, an occasional small leak. The erectile disfunction is a bit more challenging but I’m told its early days. Being very proactive about it, using the pump daily and taking a low dose of generic viagra to stimulate the nerves as per doctors orders!

First things first, get your biopsy done. If there is cancer then really look at the options for treatment. I wish I had been on this site before my surgery. I probably would have explored more of the options out there, but I’m happy to be healthy and alive!

All the best

I am glad to see you are doing ok and made it through to the other side. This does give hope. This is a lot of stuff to take in. I feel like I am learning a new language.

Thanks for sharing your story.
