Hi I drank around 2 pints of water before my scan and although my bladder felt like it was going to explode, the tech said they were the clearest pictures she'd seen all morning! If your bladder isn't full enough they will just make you drink some more liquid. It really is the most amazing thing seeing your little one for the first time! I had a massive shock at mine, as I found out I was expecting 2 little monkeys! Good luck & enjoy it xx

My bladder was too full to see the baby! I had to go and let a bit out which was the best relief ever! They'll get you to go and have a drink if your bladder is empty and they cant get a good view. Drink half a pint or a pint before you go and take a bottle to guzzle down in the waiting room as you'll probably have a bit of a wait (if your hospital is like the 2 in my area anyway!)

It's a lovely experience, try not to be too nervous. Enjoy :-)

On my first scan of my first baby I drank too much, was in agony especially when she started the scan but she also told me my bladder was too full s let me go for a wee- I felt so happy that I could then go and relax and enjoy the scan which is amazing. I had my first scan with my second baby at the weekend and I drank a pint of water an hour before and apparently it was the "perfect" amount to have in my bladder...basically don't worry they will either get you to drink more or go for a wee, either way the scan is amazing so just lie back and enjoy!!! :-)

i didnt drink anything in my 1st scan. unfortunately i was too unwell to keep fluids down. my scan took an hour and i had to lay on my side. it wasnt the best scan and you could see the stomach gases. but on screen i could see jelly bean waving. xx
