Hi ladies, I am 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow and good old 'morning' sickness started this week. I am strangling to keep any food or water down. Has anyone got any tips as I am already tired so not getting to eat much isnt helping. Any advice would be great. Thank you in advance xx

I had severe sickness from week 12 to 20, sick about five times a day!

What helped me was, as soon as I woke up, I ate three busicuits rich tea before moving out of bed, then had my teas and toast, I had to keep eating biscuits every three hours then. Small meal at normal times, I made sure I ate busicuits before bed also!

Basically I couldn't allow my stomach to be empty.

I'm nw nearly 24 weeks still get sick occasionally so It will get better:)

Hi Sarahp19, I too suffered severe sickness from about the same stage until around 20wks.,i was being sick between 7 and 15 times a day. I was admitted to hospital twice to be our on a drip and put on medication, which eventually worked, so dont be afraid to keep going back to your doctors if you don't improve. Definitely try the eating little and often thing, try wholemeal bread, porridge etc. which keep you fuller for longer, this worked for me once the medication finally kicked in.

I also was put on 'ranatadine' whilst in hospital an anti-acid reflux medicine which you can buy without prescription (although not in the doses they have me!) and it's also the active ingredient in hexagon which is safe to take in pregnancy (check the lables in the packs).

Good luck and it does get better.

Sorry that should be active ingredient in gaviscon! Not hexagon! Predictive text! Cx

If you've already had one injection of anti sickness medication you probably have hyperemesis gravidarum and you'll need anti sickness medication regularly for the forseeable future. Don't worry, antiemetics nowadays are quite safe and are used routinely by thousands of women in the UK every year. For more information see the website of Pregnancy Sickness Support pregnancysicknesssupport.or... it's the only charity in the UK that helps women with pregnancy sickness. There is more information about hyperemesis gravidarum and how to cope with it at pregnancysicknesssos.co.uk. Me, my mum and my sisters all had hyperemesis. I was the only one who had decent treatment for it, and that was only because I fought for it, I was treated by a hospital consultant and was prescribed phenergan, stemetil, buccastem and ondansetron. I would go back to your doctor and ask for treatment, and if he fobs you off, contact PSS for help.
