Please help I'm 5 wks on my 1 st baby and I'm soooooooo stressed out all the time I've had to stop taking my antidepressant :(

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Can i ask why you have stopped taking your antidepressants? I took citalopram 20mg all way through my second pregnancy and my baby girl is now 9months with no problems. Most antidepressants are safe to take in pregnancy so go and see your gp. Stress isnt good for you or baby. Hth x

Hi thanks for reply I stopped as soon as I found out I was pregnant looked on NHS web site and it said its best not to my dr are really busy and hard to get into so stopped but really finding it hard I'm on 30 mg per day x

I too am on Citalopram, and have been since the beginning of my preganacy and all seems fine with baby. I have seen the consult at the hospital who said it was fine to take all the way through if i wanted to.

Perhaps you could speak with your Dr to see if they can prescribe citalopram instead if not already on it. I know there is also another similar drug which is fine to take all the way through pregancy but I cannot remember what it is called.

When you go to your booking appointment they ask about your mental health to support you through all the changes in pregancy with hormones etc. Mum is just as important as baby in this area.

I agree with the last two posts, there are anti depressants safe to use in pregnancy. If you can survive without them that's great but I'd not its not worth getting ill, trust e pregnancy is a bit stressful at times with disturbed sleep patterns, sickness and hormone changes!

I got taken off my anti-depressants when I told the doctor I was ttc ... :/

Did u cope? I'm finding it really hard ATM stressing over everything got few days till I can get to see my dr to see wot they say x
