I'm now 9 weeks pregnant. I dont have an appetite. I am not eating as much as i usually eat. Although i could eat about 40 pickles a day. Is this normal?

Funnily enough I wanted to eat Gherkins a few weeks ago, (i'm 11 weeks) No helpful comments to add I am afraid but I have always assumed that cravings like that are because there is a certain nutrient within the foods that you are craving that you are missing. Perhaps the pickles settle your stomach? Although 40 a day might have the opposite effect!

Anything and everything is normal in pregnancy, its a weird and wonderful time. Eat what you can, your baby will take everything it needs from your food, just be sure to keep your fluids up.

Whenever I'm pregnant I loose weight as my appetite disappears. I must add I am overweight so the midwife is never concerned. I tend to not eat proper meals and graze all day! At the minute I'm eating dry cereal and cup a soup! Baby will always get what baby needs so don't worry, eat what you fancy. Once feeling more up to it try to eat more balanced diet x

Michelle I was the same - expected to be ravenous but i lost my appetite for the first few months, apart from being obsessed with a few things like crackers and dairlea! Eat what you fancy when you fancy it, it's one of the good things about being pregnant :-) I am 13 weeks now and my appetite is coming back which I think happens to most women when they start their second trimester. What you are feeling is definitely not unusual :-) x
