Is this my mucus plug 38 weeks pregnant been getting twinges tightenings back pain and period type pains for a day or so

I don’t think it is. That just looks like discharge. Your mucus plug can be darker and bloody. But I don’t know for sure. I remember when I was pregnant with my 2nd towards the end I was getting a lot of discharge and the midwife said that’s normal as the vagina has a clean out before labour.

Period type pains could be small contractions, so your labour could be coming on. X

it could be tightening or little contractions. I remember 1st time I went into labour I was having period type pains but didn’t realise that’s what contractions felt like, but mine progressed within an hour or so. Contact your midwife if you think you could be in labour. X
