working on an orthopedic ward

hi everyone, I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant and have just got back to working in the wards after a placement I was on for the first 10 weeks. I previously worked in a covid ward but have now been transferred to an ortho ward. This ward is so heavy for manual handling and I'm just thinking why the heck have they moved me here?

I haven't had an single assessment yet and when I expressed my concerns I wad told I was 'being irratic'. Has anyone else experiences this or does anyone else know what a safe level of manual handling is at my stage of pregnancy?

No experience I’m afraid- I’m a self employed childminder so that’s come with it’s own challenges during my own 3 pregnancies, but here’s some info I found you to look through and pass on to your bosses. Hope it helps xx

If you've notified your employer in writing of your pregnancy, they need to do a risk assessment on you by law and manage any risks to you. I would check with your HR department and anyone who works in health and safety/ compliance.If they have not done your risk assessment and are not carrying out their obligations to your, I'd contact pregnant then screwed, they offer free legal advice to mums and also template letters that you can use to send to your employer.

That doesn't sound right to me. I'd seek for legal help indeed. o you have local pregnancy support groups that could point you towards free legal advice or support?

Are you working in an NHS hospital? I work on a ward, as soon as I notified them I was pregnant they had to do a risk assessment. They then had to keep checking in with me and they have to re-do the assessment at different stages of the pregnancy.

The trust intranet will have the maternity policies on there, print them off and have a read. X
