My little girl is nearly a year old, I would like to start slowly weaning her off the breast. I’d like to start by cutting out the comfort feeds. Any tips on how to do this? She is very stubborn and don’t like to give in so easy ahaa

How can I stop my nearly 1 year old from comfort nursing?
Hi Janya
The way I did it with my daughter was I dropped one feed at a time and replaced it with a milk drink and snack. My daughter was less and less interested in breastfeeding by that point so I didn’t need to do anything special.
If you find she is needing to be on the breast then you can make the transition slower and easier for her by offering the breast only after meals and keeping it short. Another slightly faster way to do it is to be away and let someone you trust give her one of her meals.
You want to do this slowly so that your supply slows down naturally and you avoid mastitis. It will also be easier for your little one.
If you live in the UK, your health visitor should have lots of advice on how to do the transition and they may also refer you to an NHS breastfeeding consultant who will be able to do a plan for you.
