Just a quick question. Baby has been upset since yest and to begin with thought he had a sore tummy as this is usually only time he cries badly. Except that nothing worked to help calm him and he has started biting everything. Getting very frustrated until can chew down quite violently on something. Bit worrying when BF lol. Anyway this morning daddy noticed a change in his gums and by looks of it theres a tooth ready to make an appearance. Early I know but as he's developing so fast not too much of a surprise. Anyway any suggestions on things can do to make less painful? Thanks x

3 1/2 weeks old - possibly teething? How can I help?
My bubs been doing this for a couple of weeks now too! Although I haven't seen anything that looks like a tooth budding.....however, he could just be having irritation in his gums without teeth making an appearance yet. What's with these babies trying to grow too fast??? Lol. So far I can calm him when he's like that and he chews his hand or my arm or something. I have one of those teething rings you put in the freezer or fridge to cool so they can rub their gums on that if it escalates. I'll also look into teething powders and the like when I feel it's stepped up that much.....though I don't currently know what age they start from as I've not checked xx
he's been chewing on things for over a week, my finger being his favourite, and though really hate them was considering a dummy if was going to be only thing that could calm him. yes he was that upset yest! I know, really wish would stop growing so fast. Can already push himself along his mat when he's on his belly and can roll over which has led to him getting plenty of sleep turned onto his side and me and OH waking up all the time worried hes turned too far!!! So latest not a big surprise. Will ask HV tomoz about powders. Sure we've been given teething ring so will try. Thanks x
Yh it's mad.....the doctor told James off for doing too much too soon lol! James is often on his side....as long as he has no blankets up round his face, he should be perfectly fine. Just wanna keep us on our toes lol x
Wow, its a tricky one obviously because of his age "being 3 & half wks old" there's not much you can use as most products contain paracetamol but my 1st thought would be to use some small ice cubes. ( when I say small i mean you could maybe give them some time to melt down a bit) so it dosen't seem as if you're trying to push a great big ice cube in his mouth or something.
You could then give him some "temporary" relief & maybe book an appointment to see your G.P tomorrow morning.
xx
My little man was doing that and he had colic...uncontrollable crying without being able to calm down and chewing his hand and dribbling etc since been using colief for the colic and all the other things hav stopped to an extent. X
Wow that us super young, but it happens! In this case I reccommend waterproof teething mittens. Gives your lo a fabric buffer to chew. At this age your lo won't be coordinated enough for teethers. You can find the mittens at etsy.com/shop/easybreazybaby
