Help newly pregnant, and very early

Hi there, I just found out on Monday that I’m pregnant. I had took 6 tests as I couldn’t believe it. Today I tested and one line was faint. I’m worried I’m not sure what this means. From my last period (22nd December start date) i could be 5 weeks or more like 2-3 weeks?! Not sure. When I rang my GP they said all I can do now is wait for the women’s hospital to be in touch with me and that could be weeks and weeks. Is this normal? i feel like I need confirmation that this is happening and that everything is ok. I’ve got no symptoms, other than being a week late on my period and tender breasts. No nausea or sickness. Just wondering if there is any advice out there on anything for me. Thank you!

Hi,

Try not to worry.

I only had sore boobs at the start no nausea or anything else. It is horrible you pee on the stick and then kind of go right what now?

There could be many reason why that test looks different eg. Faulty test, time of day taken. As far as I know it’s unlikely to be false so just try to enjoy the moment. Until you know otherwise you are pregnant and that’s special.

The waiting isn’t fun but try and keep yourself distracted as much as possible with the things you enjoy or bring you joy.

Lots of luck 💕💕💕

You’re very welcome ☺️

The anxiety for me hasn’t gone away but I constantly remind myself how lucky I am to be in this position and try to enjoy being pregnant. It’s an experience and a journey but it’s worth it and it’s special (even if you end up with the sickness 😉)

Hear if you ever need anything xx

You could book a private scan from around 5 weeks (which if you are pregnant you are). Some require at least 6 weeks but this may help you feel at ease. General rule of thumb is a line is a line with pregnancy tests. Alternatively wait a week or so and take another test see if line is darker and then go from there?

This is what I was thinking. If I wait a couple of weeks and then book just for some reassurance really, as digital clear blue tests are reading ‘pregnant 2-3’ I’m still thinking I hope this is real! just can’t wait for somebody to physically tell me that is it. Thank you for your words and help! Xx

Hey! Sounds pretty much how it started for me. 😅Called my Gp and they had zero interest, told me to self refer. So I did book my private scan - best decision ever - worth every penny! If you are still unsure, before booking private scan - I would suggest that electronic clear blue test which tells you if you are pregnant and how many weeks, that was my last test after 5 or so them ones with the lines where you need to play a guess game 🧐🧐

Ahhh this is so comforting to here! My GP have said they’ve ‘let the women’s hospital know’ so just a waiting game now. I think in a few weeks I will deffo look into a private scan! i did take 2 clear blue digital tests and both came up with ‘pregnant 2-3’ and I’m just sitting there thinking wow is this actually happening to me finally??? 🤣 thank you again for your help! Xx

Did your GP surgery mention a midwife appointment? You normally have your first one at around 8 weeks, and based on your LMP you're around 5 weeks. As others have suggested, a private scan may help put your mind at rest but pregnancy really is a waiting game, especially during the early stages. I didn't start to feel nausea until around 6 weeks but it's not unusual to not feel nausea at all.

Thank you so much! its so much to get your head around like it doesn’t feel real especially having to wait around now! I also have no symptoms that’s what doubting me, just sore boobs and I get a dull ache like period pain every now and then. Not cramping just a dull ache so I’m hoping that’s ok! Thanks for your help! Xx

Congratulations! After 6 positive tests it is definitely happening :) Exactly how I felt when I found out at 5 weeks and starting to realise it is just the norm. Especially when it’s your first pregnancy that stage from doing a pregnancy test to your first appointment seems like foreverrrrr but it does fly by weirdly at the same time. Forums got me through for real life advice!!! Weirdly hated the symptoms but liked them for reassurance so don’t worry they will come. My sickness started around week 8-10. Not everyone gets it though I suppose. I booked an early private scan at what I thought was 9 weeks ended up finding out I was 10 weeks - was so worth it for reassurance. Cost around £45. I’m not sure where you live but I had to ring the maternity ward myself to arrange the booking appointment and only just had it on 26th Jan then have my NHS scan on 10th Feb. Good luck with everything ❤️

Ahhh thank you so much for your message, i deffo needed this! i think I will opt for an early scan in a few weeks just to be sure, as it’s so true you feel as though it’s not happening until the scan! Doesn’t feel right! As for symptoms I’ve just got tender boobs a dull ache like period aching, no cramps or bleeding just an ache or twinge every now and then. Just hoping that’s ok! thank you for your message it’s honestly helped, good luck with everything with you! How exciting!! Xx

Hi, I didn’t have and real pregnancy symptoms either, only thing I had was a pinching every now snd again.

As you are so early there is not a lot you can do. You can’t go to an EPU (Early pregnancy unit) until I think your 7 or 8 weeks

Easy fir me to say but try not to worry

See I have a dull ache like period pain but not cramps, that come every now and then. Hoping it’s ‘normal’ as that’s all I’ve got! i will deffo research and find an EPU thank you for that, and I will book a private scan maybe in a few weeks too just for some reassurance! Thank you for your message! xx

I felt exactly the same, I really felt I needed a doctor to see me to confirm it for me. I was told to self refer myself to my local maternity unit. I did that online very easily and was seen this week by a midwife (at 6 weeks pregnant) it was very reassuring to see a medical professional. I was still imagining them to say oh you're not pregnant at all! But I am!

This is how I’m feeling, like I need someone to tell me it’s happening. As now I just feel normal and I am plodding on my days as normal as I can! I’ve had a letter from my doctor though now saying I’ve been referred to the hospital, and first scan is at 12 weeks. But I think an early private one in a few weeks will give me the reassurance I need for sure! Thank you! Good luck to you! Xx

Hey. I felt exactly the same way until I went in for my first scan. If you're pregnancy test showed positive then you most likely are pregnant. Hold tight as every women is different. I had very mild symptoms too and often wondered if I'm pregnant. Now I'm 25 weeks. I didn't have any morning sickness and I think that's cause I'm having a boy. So maybe the same for you.

Ahhh congratulations to you! Yes the symptoms part is weird as I have none, just sore boobs and a dull ache like period pain but not cramps that come every now and then! Just hope it’s ok. Thank you for the support and message I needed it. Good luck with everything with you! Xx

Thanks. As you said you're very early so that's probably why you're not feeling much. So try not to worry so much. And good luck to you too. 😀
