Hi all. I spotted for 2 days, light brown, only when I wipe. Am currently 6 weeks pregnant. HCG at 5 wks 5 days was 21445 up from 1175 eight days prior. Pregnancy symptoms still there. My dr said I’m heading for a miscarriage. Help, please! I am so confused.

Hi lovely, I just wanted to let you know that I spotted for a few days from my test day and also just before my 6 week scan. Same as you it was brown blood. I did have a little cramping too. I was sure there was no chance. I did ring EPU and the nurse really wasn’t concerned unless I had pain in the tips of my shoulder or pain heading into bum. Went for the 6 week scan and everything was fine. I am no doctor just confused why they have come to that conclusion with the spotting. Have you had any further symptoms xxx

Hi Jonesy84,

Thank you for your response. I am currently in a Middle East country so the approach may be different here. It is really terrifying when they mention a possible miscarriage. I’m also one of those people who need to know details so I can eliminate info myself. Lol. I know that doesn’t help. I am seeing a dr tonight to see how it goes. Will update.

I have everything crossed for you. It scary when things like this happens as I say it happened to me but I read you have already had a previous miscarriage which I am sorry to read. This we obviously add to the anxiety. Yes please update when you are ready xxx

Hi, you need to call EPU and get a scan! You HCG is rising slowly and there is bleeding so the most important thing to know for sure is that it is not an ectopic. Hopefully not but only a scan can tell you at this stage. Big hug and good luck! X

Thank you Bigblueskies. I just might ask for a scan and possibly a beta HCG test. I see my dr tonight and hopefully will have more answers. She ruled out ectopic as gestational sac was intrauterine. So it’s where it should be. But no yolk sac or fetal pole at 5 weeks 5 days. So am a little worried. I had a miscarriage in December at 7 weeks.

I’m really sorry to hear you had lost a pregnancy before. I hope this baby is all ok and glad you have at least excluded an ectopic before!

Ask for a repeat scan asap. They should have already offered you a repeat scan if they have not seen a yolk and fetal pole previously. You need to know what is going on. For your own mental health mainly at this stage!

I hope it all turns out fine but if not, you must ask them to do karyotyping testing and to see a consultant who can order tests to establish if there is an underlying cause. Don’t let them fob you off with “it’s just bad luck”. Persist! But as I said, I wholeheartedly hope you won’t need to do any of this.

Big hugs!
