Am I Pregnant....

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this so hope you don't mind silly questions. My partner and I were quite "active" while on holidays without contraception. That was 4-5 weeks ago. I took my period for the normal week but then it continued for 11 days, not enough to fill a pad just when I wiped (apologies for the honesty here) it was there. I had small clots, more than normal. My sugar levels have been oddly low mostly hypo stage this last 2-3 weeks and I haven't changed my eating pattern. I am tired and have a drony headache right in the centre of my forehead. My skin seems slightly oiler than normal on my face and my body temperature doesn't know what it is at....do any of these sound familiar to anyone that has been pregnant who is a type 1 diabetic? I know I should go to the doctors for a definite answer but they are so hard to get a hold of and make you feel like you are wasting their time :(

thank you in advance x

Hi, do you mean you had a period after your holiday? If yes, then you are not pregnant that is my opinion. Prolonged periods happen occasionally but this doesn't suggest a pregnancy. Relax and it will happen some other time, if a pregnancy is what you wish for

Have you taken a pregnancy test?

Hi Loulou,

I would also suggest taking a test. After 4-5 weeks it should give you a definitive answer. X

Thanks everyone for your responses. Sometimes I guess you just want something so bad your mind goes into overdrive the slightest change... il give it to Monday then il try an appointment with my GP. Thanks again x

If you're in the UK you do the test and only contact the doctor if it's positive. They don't do the tests for you know as home pregnancy tests are extremely accurate so they don't offer this service.

I didn't see my GP my entire pregnancy, I just self referred to the midwife unit and went from there. You might not ever need to see your GP for pregnancy as it's all done through your midwife. If you have diabetes they'd probably arrange for you to have a consultant led pregnancy, I had gestational diabetes and was under the diabetes team, had a consultant and obstetrician. I had extra scans and induction plan put in place etc.the NHS website has a lot of information about the pregnancy journey nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy...

Thank you Seb9 i was thinking of seeing the nurse at the gps just to make sure bktbjbg else going on. I just have the strangest feelings inside and still having coloured discharge with tissue bits it looks like and pressure in my tummy. It’s just odd as my period is so regular every month and never have I experienced this. Just coincidental that my partner and I were a bit more active than normal so kind of making me think all sorts 🙈

Definitely do a home pregnancy test. They are very accurate - no more so than a drs or nurse test would be able to tell you. They may well ask you if you have done your own test and if not, insist you do your own before they see you.
