Hi,

Gave birth 5 weeks ago and had 3rd degree tear..I went to the toilet and had bowel movement and found red streak of blood in my bowls. I spoke with the gp and they prescribed me with ansuol... saying its piles.. To be honest I didn't use it because the next day there was no blood..but a week later I went to the toilet (yesterday) and found streak of red blood in my bowels again. When I went second time it stung but no blood... Thing is I have been non stop passing wind for two days aswell... I'm so convinced there is something more sinister going on... Anyone been in similar situation?

Hey there, sorry to hear you’re having this experience. Is it painful when you pass a bowel movement?I also had a 3rd degree tear and suffered anal fissures which can causing bleeding and tightness which can lead to trapped wind.

I really recommend going back to your GP and get an examination as if it’s a fissure you’ll need different medication.

Also - have you had a referral to women’s health physio? Anyone who has a 3rd degree tear should automatically get an appt. The physio helped me massively.

Hope you get sorted soon x

Hey no not really just slightly stung yesterday but put that down to spicy pizza from night before... I don't have trapped wind I pass alot of wind.I've not had a referral yet.. probably due to covid.

Im litterly fearing I have cancer 🙊😳

I’m no GP but I’m pretty sure that poo streaked with blood is not a sign of cancer. Blood mixed in with poo is more of a concern.Anal fissures aren’t always painful - google it and see.

Please don’t give yourself any more anxiety, get another GP appt and get an examination to put your mind at rest. When you’re there also ask about your physio referral.

Help yourself and get your appt x

I would also say that I think having a lot of wind is quite common after having a baby especially as your body settles down x

Hi, I also remember freaking out about what could go on down there after giving birth. I also had some blood once in a while and thought something was really wrong... it was piles lol. What about starting to use the cream asap and see if anything improves? Or are you concerned about any ingredients in the cream?

Also, if you think about it... you just gave birth and had a tear and now you get some blood... is it more likely that the 2 things are connected or that you have suddenly developed a cancer?

Hi thanks for your message really appreciate it. Well I started to use the anusol on sat evening... And this morning when I went to the toilet I had blood in my stool and bright red blood on toilet paper..i phoned the gp and she said she will see me on Thursday... How long did your bleed last? I gave birth 5 weeks ago.. I would of thought it would of stopped by now. Also can a 3rd degree tear make you bleed from down there?

Hi! I had piles throughout my pregnancy a couple of times and then again after giving birth. Each time I only bled a couple of times and it was very little.

As others gave suggested, it would be a good idea to go to the GP for peace of mind.

I hope everything goes well x

Glad it's better. If it's piles it's normal that they hurt when you touch them :(

Hope you're feeling even better today xx

Thanks, the bleed has not come back since Monday.. What colour was your bleed? Did you have internal piles btw? X

Piles are very common after pregnancy, also if you had stitches that could bleed too. You need to make sure you're not straining at all and that will cause to bleed again so use laxatives if needs be. I'd also use the treatment the gp have you since you haven't.

Thanks for your message. I gave birth 5 weeks ago...I thought things would be calm now.. do you think having a 3rd degree tear make you bleed from your bottom?

If the skin was involved and then you strain yes. also piles are very common during and after child birth especially if you are constipated as are fissures. The key is too avoid any straining and better if your stools are on the loose side. If despite this you're still bleeding in a few weeks then worth seeing you go again.
