Dr has prescribed my 8 week old Similac Alimentum and she started it yesterday morning!
She seems to like it and she’s actually been quite good since starting it and much happier🤞🏻
However.... she’s drinking less! We only do about 2oz now. She was doing between 3oz/4oz before. Is this normal? Is the formula more filling or something?

They decided to not go ahead with it 🤦🏼♀️ It’s honestly been ridiculous! This formula is a hydrolysed formula. She seems okay on it 🤷🏼♀️ apart from she gets quite upset now when she poops and toots so it must be painful, I’m hoping that’ll pass x
Let's hope she settles on this. I had to ring the gp again today . My little girl suffering so bad with her reflux . It seems to be getting worse. She is on the highest dose of omeprazole. So they have prescribed gaviscon aswell. I have my telephone appt with peadeatric dr on 17th. I really hope they can help x
Mine was quite bad for 2 days and called GP and they said stop the omeprazole.... however I didn’t feel completely comfortable doing that! So I spoken with someone else who’s baby is on omeprazole and she said she cut the dose and her baby improved, so I done that and mines been a lot better. So not sure if the maximum dose of omeprazole was making her more poorly 🤷🏼♀️ X
Hi, my LB went on this at 8 weeks it was amazing to see the difference in him once he’d started it. It has quite a different taste, if you smell it you’ll probably be able to tell lol which could be why she’s drinking a little less, it might just take her a bit of time to get use to it. Hope it helps though x
My little boy is on this and is thriving since he changed. He did drop a few ounces in his feeds for a while so don’t worry. Once he got used to the taste he was flying again. As long as she isn’t in pain and her symptoms are alleviating after a week or two on it, she will take what she needs! Don’t worry too much about counting ounces, but rather if she’s putting on weight etc. It will take her a little while to get used to it but it’s so smooth and easily digested so I’m hoping your little girl will be much happier on it! X
We’re still going strong on it and she’s still happy! Spoken to her dietician and wants her on it for another 4 weeks (will be 6 weeks in total then). Then she wants us to do a gradual milk challenge which I’m so scared to do 😂 x
We had to do that too and had quite a bit of projectile vomiting so still on it! That formula has been a godsend to us. I was dreading attempting to wean our son off it but it wasn’t as bad as I thought and after three days my HV said to keep him on the Alimentum as he’d had a bad reaction. That stressful stage feels like a lifetime ago for us now.
