Hello. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations re hypnobirthing (books/websites/podcasts etc). This is my first pregnancy and I'm a health professional, so looking for something useful/practical and not too 'alternative'!

The positive birth company have a hypnobirthing digital pack on their website for £39. I found it really informative and useful, although personally the positive affirmations were a bit much for me but you can pick and choose what parts you want to use.

I am doing this one too, finding it really great and watching with my birth partner which is nice to do :)

Doing this one too! Found it interesting and not too ‘alternative’ as you say.. Also a health professional, but with no experience of being around pregnancy or young children so found it informative.. We’re about half way through it and found it helpful so far! Looking to download the app too, like many things, you take from it what’s helpful but I’d say definitely worth the money so far!

Have u looked on you tube I’ve listened to one session it is relaxing not sure it would work during labour but I’ll have to look further into it as I’ve not done it before with previous pregnancies.

I was reading Your Baby, Your Birth by Hollie de Cruz in preperation for giving birth. Unfortunately I didn't get to finish the book as I had an emergency csection at 33 weeks, but it made me feel calmer about giving birth. I was a bit sceptical about the affirmations but found it a useful read (for the bits I did manage to read!!)

No problem! I had a difficult pregnancy, baby had a pleural effusion and at one point we were advised to consider a termination, but he's defied all the odds and is about to celebrate his first birthday in a few weeks with no signs of any medical problems whatsoever 😀

Hi I’ve also been listening to Hollie de Cruz on audible I think it was around £10 but found that she makes it really understandable and her voice is really comforting x

I had classes through my hospital maternity department. They were amazing but I guess with everything going on at the moment they wouldn't have anything like this 😂

Another vote for Your Baby, Your Birth by Holly De Cruz. I would also suggest downloading the Calm app and practicing mindfulness/ meditation. Sounds hippy but it really helps with the breathing plus there is some really relaxing music on there too. I listened to the same song throughout my labour (albeit a short labour) I found it really helpful to visualise the breath (something the app teaches) i honestly had the most relaxing, easy and enjoyable labour.

Good luck 🥰
