Extra fluid and a "big" baby

Hi,

I'm new to this and really need some advice on your experiences?

I was told I have extra water at 29 weeks pregnant and that my baby is big. Now after my 31 week appointment I had to have another growth scan where I was told my water has increased and baby is still measuring big. I'm worried something could be wrong? Any one have any experience like this??

No I've not really been told anything hence asking on here for anyone with experience. I've looked at the website over an over but it doesn't really answer much as I've not got gd xx

Maybe you just naturally have big babies? Not sure on the fluid tho. I'd give you MW a call tomorrow and ask her to explain xx

To be honest my midwife has only really asked me what the hospital has said to me. She doesn't work Mondays so have just messaged her.

Hi,

Yes I had this - the extra fluid and the big baby. I was retested for gestational diabetes but it wasn’t that so they decided to scan me every few weeks to monitor it. My fluid ended up reducing by itself which they said is quite common if you have a mild or moderate version (which mine was), and that they will never know the reason for it.

My baby was born slightly early and weighed 9lb 12oz - they think a big baby alone can cause the extra fluid. Hopefully nothing to worry about but that’s easier said than done! Have they said they’ll be doing any further tests or monitoring?

They have just said that they will rescan at 35 weeks and discuss more after that x

I didn’t have extra fluid, but I was told to expect a large baby 10-12lb. Was having scans every 2 weeks and they were worried how big baby would be, so had too have planned c section. Baby was 8lb8, in my eyes not a large baby at all x
