I have low milk supply. Thinking of boosting with a breast pump. Any good suggestions? And is double pumping more effective than single pumping? I hear different opinions.

Double or single pump?
What makes you think your supply is low? Have you been recommended to pump by your health visitor due to weight issues?
I hated pumping, I had a single pump and only do it when I really have to if I'm going out or baby misses a feed and I'm uncomfortable. It was such a faff with all the bottles and sterilisation etc. (Kudos to formula mums who have all that extra work to do).
If you've not got weight issues and baby is having wet and dirty nappies my advice would be not to pump and just let baby feed when they want to. I've got a single Tommy tippe electric pump and it works fine for me, I've heard good things about the Medala pump too.
Good luck x
My baby was born with a tongue tie and had bad bruising from forceps so never managed to latch. I’ve been pumping for 5 months now and feeding her via bottles. I find a double pump works best for me. I have tried the Medela pump you can buy on the high street, a manual pump and a silicon pump but the only one that I get any volume with is the hospital grade Ardo pump which I’ve hired - it costs £47 per month. Hope that helps - good luck and best wishes to you! X
I’m on month 5 of expressing and have a bellababy Double pump from amazon which was about £43 it’s great. It’s as good as the one I used from the hospital while baby was on neonatal unit x

I was advised by the hospital to get a spectra double pump. It was a amazing and helped so much with supply. It was hard work but wouldn't of carried on breastfeeding if I not had it or had a single pump. Def worth the money if you need one x
What makes you think your supply is low? Is it because of how often baby feeds? If your baby is a newborn or still very young they will feed OFTEN in fact it will feel like a full time job. This is normal behaviour and doesn’t mean you aren’t producing enough milk for your baby. It’s called cluster feeding. As long as baby is doing wet and dirty nappies and steadily gaining weight they are getting all they need. If you already know all this then I apologise but so many women think they’re not producing enough milk because of this.

As for pumping it’s something I would do every evening so my Hubby could give our LG a bottle before bed. I only recently stopped doing it as my LG is nearly 12 months and breastfeeding less these days. I wish I had bought a double pump but I managed on a single with a Haakaa silicon pump on the other breast. Good luck xx
