Hi I'm looking to buy a breast pump and was wondering if anyone could offer any advice? I have been advised its best to stay away from the hand ones, but other than that I'm lost. Thanks :)

I prefer the electric but know people that have got on fine with the manual. .. I've used avent which was good and now using a medela which is fine too see if u can get one in the sale they are so pricy I think!

I hav a manual one and its easy to use and suits me.. I use it whilst feeding my son. Why were u advised to stay away from manual? I am glad I only got manual as my son doesnt take a bottle without a mighty fuss as ebf so buying an electric pump wud of been a waste for me so bear tht in mind.

A lot seems down to personal taste. I'm happily using a manual Tommee Tippee pump which I'm very comfortable with. I've been using it on and off for about 6 weeks now and have not had any problems so far.

I had the TT electric one with my first child and really couldn't get on with it (but was 4 years ago so hopefully they modified since then) so eventually took it back to the shop and switched to an electric medela - so much easier. With our second child I couldn't find my medela, so bought the hand held cheaper version as a temporary version... But again loved it and used it for a year! Good luck!

I didn't use a pump for the first 6 months with any of mine-do you really need one? I know different people get on with different ones-some find hand expressing (free) the best. You can hire electric pumps if you want to try or need to do a lot of expressing. It takes time & patience for most people to get any amount.

I have a Avent hand pump and it works fine. Can get about 4-5oz off in the morning (120-140mls ish) and I freeze the milk in bags, I got all of my kit off Amazon as good pricing. I use it sometimes for having someone else look after the LO (the occasional night out as he is EBF) but also I wish to get some stocks in store for when weaning X

I just bought some bags to freeze from amazon good prices! So how much would a 10 week old take out of curiosity as breast milk is different to formula I didn't know if just to go by the formula recommendations x

I used a electric one with my first one. Which I rented from my midwife which I will be doing this time. I had a hand one which was a load of rubbish it took forever. With a electric pump took about 5 mins.
