Brown discharge when wiping

Hi all I'm on my second pregnancy my little one is 4 and to be honest I was so stressed in early pregnancy with him after an ectopic I don't remember much. I'm just under 5 weeks now (I know its early) but I've been having brown discharge when wiping (tmi sorry!) And cramping. I know this can all be normal but earlier I had a sharp pain in my left side. I did go after lying down for an hour but should I be worried? I'll contact the EPU tomorrow but honestly they weren't much help when I spoke to them last week. I rang them as soon as I found out just out of worry with my history. Thanks

I would get in touch with EPAU again. They really should be offering you an early scan if you had a previous ectopic pregnancy.

Brown normally means old blood.so.it might be nothing, but as you rightly.said with you history you do need to be more careful

I had brown spotting with my daughter between 6-14 weeks & even lost fresh blood with clots at 10 weeks. I was told brown blood wasnt a concern ( it was to me!!) only if there was severe abdominal pain with heavy bleeding could it be a sign of a miscarriage ( although some women do bleed heavily & are fine) it’s always horrible to see any blood def get it checked over. Many women do have spotting but go onto to have a healthy baby. All the best xxx

If you’ve got another local hospital try their EPAU, they might be more understanding and considerate xx
