Hospitals in England offer 2 ultrasound scans at 8 to 14 weeks

and between 18 and 21 weeks

I had a scan at 12 weeks and then 20. The baby was measuri g small so we had another scan at 30weeks but that was an extra one requested by sonographer. In England you get two scans only.

If you pay privately you can have as many as you want. But yes it’s normally only 2 on nhs unless the consultant advise more x

Hello, my midwife told me it will be 3 on the nhs, at 13weeks, 20 & again 36 (I'm sure she said) in all honesty I cannot remember what the 3rd scan is called but she said it's basically to check the weight. I had this with my 1st child 12 years ago too. Diabetes runs in my family so I'm not sure if its due to that as they offer 3 as some other ladies are saying 2 so it could differ depending on medical conditions

Can confirm this, 1st is dating scan - they use it to confirm you due date/how far along you are/

2nd checks for abnormalities

3rd is a growth scan, just checks everything is as it should be before birth. This last one isn’t consistent though all hospitals though, or at least wasn’t. The trust, where I had my baby, didn’t do these as standard until after she was born in July 2018, however my friend who lives an hour away had it with all three of her pregnancies and they are now 9, 6 and 2. I think it’s become standard in the last couple of years but wouldn’t want to say for definite

Ahh yes your right, I had 3 scans with my daughter whose now 12 but I thought it was due to health problems that run in the family but I do remember midwife saying not all hospitals do so
