How are NCT classes running across the country?

We have just had our first experience of a Zoom NCT class and are thoroughly disappointed. How are other parents to be finding this change to their original itinerary?

The most important lesson for parents everywhere is not taught in a class and that’s empathy. While I understand it’s a really stressful time to be pregnant and I feel for you. I’m pretty sure, people are worried, stretched thin and doing their absolute best under exceptionally hard circumstances to provide what they can.

Morning, we were supposed to have a full day of the antenatal classes yesterday by the NHS that were cancelled and Im absolutely gutted they were cancelled. I have just adds a little more aniexty to the situation! It's been a struggle to get to where we are now and with the virus and now this, it's just another sting in the tail! xxx

Women over 28 weeks have classed as extremely vulnerable during this pandemic. It would irresponsible of any health provider to put several people into one room and risk the health of mother and baby. Seems good they are providing an online alternative at least.

May I ask what disappointmented you? I've done nct classes before, live, and they were not great either tbh. Got great friends from ut but not much knowledge x

We did our first one live this week, it was shorter than the original timings but we still got to see the other parents and chat a bit. Also the course content seemed okay to me, we have a WhatsApp group and have specific times where the course leader will be on there to answer questions. I’m sure the face to face classes would be better, but I’m happy to learn what I can and connect with others in the same situation virtually for now as that’s the best that can be done, if you aren’t happy maybe you can speak to them and cancel the rest of the classes? Xx

Tbh, the best thing out of the proper classes was making friends, i could have just read the information given on a leaflet

I have a feeling mine coming up will be the same. I was wondering if

I should cancel if so as it’s a lot of money without the full experience, tho appreciated it’s probably the only way possible right now.

We were told that we could do the first session online and then if we weren’t happy then could have a full refund. In the end we decided to continue with just a 15% refund, but tbh we didn’t get too much out of it as had already done a hypnobirthing course and were pretty clued up. Hopefully gained some new friends at the least, but even with the discount wasn’t good value for money for us xx

When I had my daughter I didn’t get nct classes because they weren’t offered in the area I lived in at the time so please don’t be disappointed, be grateful you got something - not everyone does!
