so worried about my pregancy

Hi all, this is my first post.

anyways, i had a successful pregnancy when i was 24 and i have the most beautiful daughter. Since then with another partner, i lost three babies, all were around the 8-9 week mark. two were missed miscarriages and one was a natural miscarriage. moving on i am now 34 with another new partner and i am 18 weeks pregnant, i am so incredibly anxious that something will go wrong. I have a panic attack at all my scans, i have had 6 so far for reassurance. i don't feel like i am getting any bigger, like my bump has stopped growing and i am still now feeling any movement. i have been told that i have an anterior placenta, which i know may be the reason, but the midwife still found the heartbeat pretty quickly at 16 weeks. i am scared of everything, i had bad asthma over the weekend, everything makes me worry about the effect on the baby. My anxiety has not been helped, but spotting, which a gyno checked and she noticed some abrasion/polyp kind of thing that may have caused it. I just want to enjoy my pregnancy.

Oh hon, I’m so sorry for your losses. Pregnancy after pregnancy loss is often extremely stressful. I’m sure that’s so much more amplified with multiple losses. My heart goes out to you.

There’s nothing I can say that would put your mind at ease and magically help you relax and enjoy your pregnancy. What I can tell you for certain is that you’re not alone and everything you’re feeling is completely understandable.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to get help healing from your the trauma you’ve endured and work on training your body and mind to relax. I highly recommend, if you haven’t already done so, talking to a counselor about your losses and the anxiety you’re experiencing.

For relaxation, I recommend the app Insight Timer. There a tons of free guided meditations. Yoga nidra meditations are fantastic for stress, anxiety and trauma. Richard Miller’s iRest yoga nidras were specifically developed for trauma.

If you have access to restorative yoga or prenatal yoga, that would also be great. Finally, check out the books Yoga for Emotional Trauma by Mary NurrieStearns and either Emotional Freedom by Judith Orloff or The Tapping Solution by Nick Ortner. You can find them on Amazon US if not Amazon UK and the shipping is really reasonable.

I have more recommendations for books and resources on pregnancy loss if you’re interested. Again, I’m so sorry you’re going through this and for all the pain you’ve endured. Please remember that you’re stronger than you know. Xx
