Who had a miscarriage recently?

I’m getting my period now, 40 days after my miscarriage at 11 weeks (baby measured 6 weeks). I feel so much better now and positive, ready to try to conceive again.

Oh I’m sorry to hear that. What is the reason of your recurrent miscarriage? I hope it will happen for you very soon, good luck to you x

in reply toFrancyItaly

We had the tests all fine, no reason just age related

FrancyItaly profile image
FrancyItaly in reply to

Really? What kind of tests did they do? How old are you if I can ask?

in reply toFrancyItaly

I was 38 at the time they do blood tests for disorders including clotting and thyroid I had a ultrasound to check uterus structure and he got a sperm analysis. The clinic don’t do the karyotype testing for genetics said no point.

FrancyItaly in reply to

Oh ok, it seems like you both had all the tests needed. Don’t give up!

in reply toFrancyItaly

I’ve just rang the clinic this week to see if we can get fertility tests now as we’ve not had a pregnancy since or that’s it maybe try another 6 mths then I’m done.

Hi,

I’m sorry to hear of your recurrent MC. I’m also 38 and we had two miscarriages this year and now I’m 13 weeks pregnant. I also have 3 kids...15,12,11. Don’t give up...I let go of everything and just got in with life. I stopped exercising and ate whatever i wanted. With my two miscarriages I was so strict with my eating, gave up my one coffee a day and was exercising. Funny how once I let it all go it happened and I’ve got a healthy baby boy on the way. My OB told me, you’ve got kids, don’t worry you’ll be fine. Sometimes being a bit older it takes to go through some eggs that aren’t viable but you’ll eventually stumble on one that is viable! It gave me hope and reassurance, I hope it does for you too! Good luck, stay positive xx

in reply to

Hi Ive done everything I was exercising which I had been for years so nothing new I stopped and started during the 3 pregnancies. I’ve done supplements for egg health we mc after that tbh that pregnancy was the worse out of the 3 so can’t say they helped. I ate lots of healthy foods drank pomegranate juice dropped caffeine and alcohol etc. Now I’ve dropped 29lbs only because I was getting too big not fertility related I do exercise because I like it I only take folic acid. I’m not stressed but ttc does make me sad. My friend had 2 mc and her 3rd was successful same age I just think it’s the luck of the draw.

I’m sure it’s upsetting, but you do have some children at least! Lots of people are waiting to become mothers. Always think positive x

in reply toFrancyItaly

I know I am lucky I have kids tbh I’m ok if we don’t, but my partner doesn’t have any I do feel for him if we can’t have one together. Even if you’ve got kids miscarriages are massively upsetting and the feeling of loss is the same regardless.

Yes, I can imagine it’s still painful. I totally understand you want a baby with your partner, I hope it will happen for you very soon! x

You too x

Just to say that at 3 consecutive miscarriages you would reach the threshold to be cared for by recurrent miscarriage. That’s who looked after me. They give you quite a lot of drugs but weirdly it’s the regular scans that have been proven to make a difference.

How do you mean the regular scans make a difference?

FrancyItaly profile image
FrancyItaly in reply toHanneesweedie

They don’t, but we realised gradually the baby wasn’t going well and that there was a chance it would not be a viable pregnancy. It was confirmed at 7 weeks, but then I miscarried naturally at home (by choice) weeks later. I feel lucky as I didn’t go to the 12 weeks scan and found out there, most people think all is going well just because they don’t bleed. I wasn’t bleeding, it was a missed miscarriage.

My recurrent miscarriage consultant told me of a study- which I’ve done a brief search online for- but which I can’t find right now which stated that women suffer fewer recurrent miscarriages when receiving close and attentive care, including extra scans. This extra care seems to reduce anxiety so as to actually improve the chances of an ongoing pregnancy.

It seems very interesting, thank you for sharing.

I have written to my consultant to ask her for the link. She’s busy and might not reply but if she does- I’ll post the relevant information here.

She hasn’t given me much to go on, just confirmed that TLC for recurrent miscarriers does improve pregnancy retention (to a statistically significant extent) and that it was a study from Sheffield University.

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage but glad to hear you’re strong and positive and ready to fight again! I had a miscarriage in June and then got pregnant on my next go and I’m now 19 weeks! It took 3 cycles and 8 embryos to get here. Keep up that positivity and just keep going, I always believed it would happen xxx

Yes it did! Oh sorry you had to go through that but it’s good to hear you are now 19 weeks! It took us a few months and I conceived naturally. I hope it will happen again very soon. Good luck! x

I’m sure it will, Ive read you’re more fertile and more likely to fall pregnant again soon after a miscarriage so go for it and good luck xx

Thank you. We went for our 12 week scan and it was a missed miscarriage which stopped at 6 weeks. My body took a long time to realise! We tried again as soon as we were able to, we’re just told to wait for first period then go ahead. Fingers crossed for you. X

Mine was a missed miscarriage and the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks. It was diagnosed at 8 weeks since I had a scan to ensure it wasn’t ectopic (my hgc levels were growing too slowly) I had to wait until my 11th week to miscarry naturally at home. This is my first period and we want to try straight away! I’m praying it will happen x
