Thanks lovely ladies for your advice I’m being kept in for observation as blood pressure was sky high and keeps going up and down! Swelling has now moved to my feet really quickly so observation is needed for at least 24 hours they said!
Thanks again girls! Xxx
Hi guys,
Just a quick question and probably nothing to worry about but I’ve been very lucky with swelling throughout my pregnancy until the past week or so, my hands have swollen so bye bye wedding ring but today I’ve noticed my face is quite puff and I’m modelling a very noticeable double chin which I’ve not had before, the whole top half of my body seems to be puffy looking, is that something to worry about? I’ve had a few headaches the past few days and my blood pressure has been normal but higher side of normal. Hoping it’s just one of them end of pregnancy things and nothing serious? I’m on aspirin for preeclampsia as I’m high risk of getting it so unsure what to do really xxx

I really suffered with swelling towards the end of my pregnancy. I had a massive moon face and went up a shoe size (went back to normal after birth) but I would ring your midwife especially as your high risk. I rang with a headache I couldn't shift at 38 weeks and they wanted to see me just to check everything x
I can relate to this! I got myself checked over the gp ordered some bloods to check thyroid & iron & orders urine test to check for possible urine infection. It turned out I had anaemia & had a urine infection. As he knew what a struggle ( he had also struggled to have children with his wife) it was he would refer me straight to the obs department if he was concerned. Did have to have my blood pressure checked as it was also higher end of normal for a pregnant woman think it was coz I freaked out 😬
The headaches definitely warrant a GP appointment or at least phone the maternity assessment department I’m sure everything is fine but I would air on the side of caution especially after all you’ve been through to get here. xxx
Baby has been consistently measuring big on the scans, so they want to do a sweep next Friday, as I want to avoid being induced, which is what they have wanted all along...
I've been having some swelling in feet and hands but no other concerns, midwife was very clear that any sudden swelling of hands, feet and particularly face should be checked straight away. I would ring the maternity triage unit for further advice. Hopefully just end of pregnancy symptoms but best to get checked over.
Thanks for all your messages girls! I rang up and they wanted to see me, my blood pressure keeps going sky high then normal again, so I’m being kept in hospital for observation! Little man is very happy, just me that’s feeling rubbish! My feet have totally puffed up since I’ve been in too, not fun!
Thanks for all your advice and stories ladies xxxx
I have had a similar issue when having both my boys. My blood pressure is fine normally and is fine during pregnancy until the very last bit and it rockets. Both my boys were fine and completely unaware of what they were putting me through. I think they both got to the point where they decided they wanted out! Good luck!
Thanks so much! I’ve literally been fine with blood pressure the whole way but now it’s going all over the place, very high one minute then fine the next! Happy baby boy is doing great tho, he’s just being a tinker🙈. Think he’s over excited to meet his mum! X
I suffered with swelling towards the end, I went up 2 shoe sixes, but have got bigger and couldn’t wear my engagement ring or wedding ring from about 32 weeks xx
