Bleeding in pregnancy

Hi, has anyone else experienced bleeding during pregnancy? I’m 17 weeks and been to A&E twice in the last ten days. Baby is fine but trying to understand why it keeps happening as I feel extremely anxious and scared to enjoy my pregnancy.

Have you had a scan? I attended A&E with bleeding at 16 weeks and they found a hematoma under the placenta, they wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t begged for a scan to reassure me the baby was ok. Fingers crossed it resolves it’s self for you, can be such a worrying time. X

Hi Em2305! Thanks for replying. I’ve had scans each time it’s happened. Had a really thorough one after the first time and they couldn’t detect a reason as to why it is happening. “Everything looks normal”. The only thing they said was that my placenta is lying low (over my cervix) but that again is likely to move as my uterus grows and not necessarily the cause.

Yes , I bled all the way through my last pregnancy with my little girl. It started at 8 weeks but got checked at A &E and all was fine with baby. Then continued through the pregnancy on and off , sometimes just small amounts. But still really worried and had to keep going into hospital to have anti D Injections. But couldn't explain why I bled and I gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby so to this day I don't know why. This time around I haven't had any bleeding and am 26 weeks. Try not to worry , I know its hard as I did.

Thank u Georgielouise, that’s reassuring to hear but sorry you had to go through it. What were the anti D injections if u don’t mind me asking?

Because my blood type is Rhesus negative , which means if you bleed after 12 weeks my antibodies can attack the baby. Anti D injection stops this. I have a routine one coming up end of May so that when baby is born there won't be any problems.

Ah ok! Thank you for advising, it’s made me feel like I’m not alone and things will hopefully be ok. Wishing you all the best xx
