Induction: Hi ladies... eeeekkk being... - Pregnancy and Par...
Induction
No advice but good luck! Not long till you get your bundle of joy in your arms xx
Remember to keep breathing! Take whatever pain relief you need, when you need it. I used positive birthing affirmations when I was induced and one that always stuck with me was ‘my body knew how to grow this baby and it knows how to birth this baby safely’, I said it to myself throughout labour and it really helped me. For what it’s worth, I had a really positive induction and birth experience. I hope that offers some reassurance as I know the prospect of induction is a nerve wracking one. You can do this... 💪🏻 And it is SO worth it when they hand that precious baby to you. I would do it again in a heartbeat to experience that feeling of being handed my daughter again. Indescribable. 💕
Oh, I took a cool mist face spray and used it loads as I got quite hot and bothered! Good luck, how exciting!!! X
Be prepared for it to take a while. You may have contractions with no dilation until they break your waters. I was also induced due to high BP. Mine also went dangerously high during the labour. Hope this doesn’t worry you; just want to prepare you. No one warned me what to expect. Best of luck, you’ll do fine and you’ll soon be meeting your baby 😃
Such a scary and exciting time... thanks for being honest... how long before being induced and having baby for you? Also we’re you allowed to go home... I’ve been told they’ll keep me in xx
I wasn’t allowed home. With the BP they had to monitor. I was about 28 hours in total, the active labour (the pushing) was only an hour or so tho xx
From my own personal experience of an induction, don’t expect baby to come straight away, be prepared for anything and take whatever pain relief you need, don’t see it as weakness asking for an epidural had I of known how much more comfortable it was going to make me I would of taken it as soon as my contractions started getting bad (I was put on a drip to induce contractions). Remember to breathe, and have a nice bath or shower while you are waiting, And walk lots of walking! but good luck, it’ll be a matter of 4 days tops before your little one is here!💞💞
I echo the advice of others. The first pessary(ies) they give you give the sensation of really bad period pain. Paracetamol/codeine sorted them out for me.
When my friend was induced, her waters broke after that stage and that’s preferable to the hormone drip.
They put your epidural in before the drip and honestly it doesn’t hurt. Unfortunately, mine came out so I experienced an induced labour without pain relief (for a short time) and that’s why I say “take all the pain relief!”
I’ve only one birth to talk about so can’t say how much an uninduced labour hurts but I am told that the induction makes everything more intense, more quickly.
It can feel a bit overwhelming as an induced birth is very intervention heavy. It is more likely that you’ll have an episiotomy, so keep drinking water and eat a lot of All Bran. To the extent that it looks like you have an addiction to it.
Going to the loo after an episiotomy was awful and I would start to address that now. They will start to look at letting you home when you’ve been to the loo!
Oh and get the biggest, most old fashioned sanitary pads too, that give you the most cushioning!
You might be more prepared than I was but I didn’t have formula with me when my daughter was born and your milk is unlikely to come in straight away (if you’re going to bf) and you’ll need to feed your baby quite quickly. The midwife will help with colostrum but you are probably not going to produce the volume they need right away.
The specific problem with gestational diabetes (I had it too) is that they test the baby’s blood sugar as that can be unstable when you’ve been diabetic. They will want it to be a certain level or they will want to take the baby to special care.
You are in the best possible hands and there’ll be a midwife with you all the time!
I am not trying to make you worried, I just wish someone would have told me what I told you!
Good luck and it won’t be long until you have your baby in your arms!
So- just to be clear... have a starter pack of formula with you and keep your baby’s blood sugar up!!
Morning , just wanted to say I had an induction for the same reason. Well I had 3 lol. After the second they tried to send me home and I said no . Third one work . Just don’t let them send you home as they are not allowed . Hopefully it will work first time . Good lucky hun xx 😘
