Induction!! Help
I very "narrowlly" espcaped being induced when my son was refusing to come out a couple of years ago in 2008.
Luckily i remember he decided "he's had enough in here now" the day before my planned induction & started the labour thing.
Even though im now "brickin" myself thinking about the labour process for this baby ( due early November) i also wouldnt like to be induced as ive heard from a few friends of friends its a nightmare.
Sorry im not being much help here but i remember hearing a new mother saying something like if you could maybe carry something with you when going into hospital for the induction ( like a music player or Pc tablet) it may help to distract you from the thought & pain of being restricted.
xx
I have an induction booked and also keen to avoid as not heard anything 'nice' about it. I have technically 10 days to get this baby down! Xx
You never know, u could still "get lucky" like myself & start getting some harsh contractions the day before.
xx
How comes they decided to induce u at 38weeks? x
They want to induce because I have severe spd and the pain relief they'v got me on isnt good for baby if taken for a prolonged period of time! Babys also head down & I'v lost the mucus plug!
Oh I see. Well the only things you can do are the natural kinda things a few of us have been furiously doing to encourage baby out lol. Using a birthing ball, walks (although I know that may be difficult for you with your pain), raspberry leaf tea (may help with your labour too), you could look into nipple stimulation.....though that's supposed to work more if your body is ready, true for all of it I guess, pineapple and kiwi. Don't know if I missed anything lol x
Thanks
Induction is different these days they put a Tampax like thing in that has your own hormones in and depending how readyu are ur they start of worth like normal first stages of labour... if they get worse they take the tampax out and if ur body starts off itself then I think they let u get on with it. .... sometimes ur waters go by themselves without them having to break them. . But like I said it's all down to how ready ur body is. ... the fact ur plug has gone is fantastic so hopefully u won't need to be induced but if u do ur body sounds ready x
Thanks its just so frustrating x
I delivered 9 weeks ago, wow that has flown, anyhow number 3 baby, no1 induced and number2 started after a sweep, number 3 they put a pessary not that bad actually, they broke waters which was very uncomfortable different for everyone. And then hooked to syntocin (if you are going to be hooked to it ask for a epidural) I coped for 4-5hours but that stuff is lethal and I wasn't coping with the intense pain. Best thing I've ever asked for I was like you little bit wary of being induced because I'd experienced it before, I guess you can try long walks raspberry leaf tea started my friend off and sex apparently is the one that starts most :-0 good luck and remember you have all the options available so make sure your doctor or consultant midwife knows what you want and put it in place now. X
Hi there, as with any medical procedure, fully informed consent is essential and that means it should have been fully explained to you the risks and benefits of a 38 week delivery. Ask lots of questions but at the end of the day its your body and you do have a choice.
Too often interventions (sweeps, breaking waters, induction by hormones and the like) are regarded as commonplace and routine but it results in a domino effect and more interventions (epiesiotomy, forceps, ventuse all follow). I take a personal view that pregnancy is not a condition to be cured by Drs but a natural phenomenon and, as far as feasibly possible, should be respected. That said there are times when medical intervention is necessary and the benefits of medical care should not be ignored. Understanding the situation is key.
I have heard good things about acupuncture and gym balls to start labour, (not tried it myself) raspberry leaf tea does help, but don't over do it as the contractions can be intense. I would recommend that you read up on hypnobirthing because I'm sure you will find the techniques useful and it will help you to ask the questions you need answers to so you can make the best decision. I hope this helps
As we are discussing induction, what do you ladies think about the fact that I have been booked for induction on my EDD as I am 40 and therefore statistically my placenta will deteriorate faster but has been booked without evidence.
I was booked for a sweep at 38 weeks but my MW refused and I am due one this Wed at 39 wks which she said she will do as I have induction looming.
It seems the MW has a different opinion to the consultant who I have met only once and had a quick read of my notes before my appt X
hello,i share your worries completely I had my daughter last july and my waters broke but labour didn't progress so I was induced, knowing how painful my last labour was[due to a failed epidural]I was pretty adamant that I wanted an epidural and was advised to have it before they they started the induction as the contractions would be fast n furious and extreamly strong and painful well epidural failed me again and I was left in what could only be described as complete and utter shock, opt for epi as soon as you get there and make sure you cant feel anything before they start.otherwise you may want to try, raspberry tea, running up n down stairs, juming up n down but within reason!hot ans spicy curry or a very hot chilli, rocking back n forth[not side to side]on all fours, sex may help but its not for everyone,or my top tip which is also not for everyone but that's cos it discusting but worked for me with 3 out of 3 of my pregnancys, caster oil,one tea spoon full in a drop of orange juice in the morning and again in afternoon and by evening you should be in full swing, good luck with everything you do try and don't try more then one in any one day as individually they are all completely safe but I wouldn't like to think of what could happen if taken out of hand x
bellybelly.com.au/birth/ind...
This is an Australian site but its a good read & has made me question Induction and why offered
cheekymonkey3791,yes it is the drip I speak of,i have given birth naturally to my second child and the pain was bareable but with my third after being induced it was too much for me to bare and I was screaming the place down, eventualy when they got an doctor who knew what he was doing he put my epidural in properly and the pushing part was a breeze,im hoping with my son due in 11 weeks I don't have to be induced but its not looking likely as I have gestational diabetes, hope this helps x
