Could I be pregnant...

So basically I'm 16 years old and I don't think my period is due until around next week but I got it suddenly today and a few minutes ago I got a bad pain just underneath my stomach... I've looked online and I'm scared to even think about being pregnant... I don't have back pain or anything but could I be pregnant or is it just period pains...

Unless you've had unprotected sex in the last couple of weeks, I'd say it's period pains. You need to work out the 1st day of your last period and count 14 days from there to get an average ovulation date but this isn't always accurate. Our cycles vary woman to woman so if you don't want a baby right now you need to use some form of contraception.

Thank you so much for that. Because I'm young slight changes like that scare me but i think it's something more serious than a period...

Agree. Ovulation prediction is not accurate unless test is done. With my first child I got pregnant on day 14 - like from the book. Second was a total surprise as I got pregnant next day after my period ended (on day 6) who would have thought that!

Hey!

To me it sounds more like a period coming early. Ofc I'm not qualified to confirm or deny whether you're pregnant but from my experience, it sounds a lot like periods I've had in the past. I'm 38 and I've had times were my periods were super regular, others where they were not, and a handful of times where my period came way early and it was also painful. It was also a short period. I went to the gp once about it and they mentioned it could be stress related or something like that and to not worry if that was the only symptom. I recommend you see your gp and ask them to be sure everything's fine. If you look online you're always going to find something that confirms what you suspect!

Your symptoms don't sound to me like it's a pregnancy but as I said this is solely based in experiences and not in any medical qualification.

I hope everything goes well.

Thank you for you're reply that really helped but I replied to someone earlier and I believe that it might be something more than a period because I've been having symptoms of not pregnancy but more serious... I had super bad cramps which I don't usually get and now I have a fever. My period is heavy too...

Hi! Have you seen a doctor already? It sounds like it would be a good idea to make an appointment with your gp. In the meantime, try to stay calm (easier said than done, I know!). It could be something like a cyst that can cause period pains and it's not dangerous, just annoying and totally curable. I know I'm going to sound like a mom but, please check with a doctor! :)

It's always the advice that sounds like what a mum would say that's the best. Thank you so much I'll make sure to ask my nan to book an appointment with the gp

You may want to get checked for endometriosis as that can because of heavy periods xx

Is it dangerous? Iberead about a few things that sound like the symptoms I've had but I've not heard of that yet xx

in reply toJust_a_thinker

No, not dangerous at all. Just heavy, painful periods - which of course are not nice at all. Much better to be aware of this as early as possible in order that you can get it sorted rather than have years of pain. Xxx

I meant to say I read*** auto correct 🤭. And I've just started getting back pains late this afternoon and my period is already nearly finishing.... I still also have a cold.. Xxx

in reply toJust_a_thinker

I would definitely say, if you are worried then press with the dr. Its so easy to just say it's normal but you shouldn't have to have pain. X

So the news is that I'm not pregnant as I've just had a heavy period. Due to my flu it was just the pains acting up x

in reply toJust_a_thinker

Thank you for updating. If your periods are erratic it is definitely worth pursuing with your dr, whether you are trying for a baby or not. Periods, when normal, should be every 24-32 days. X
