My son is 10 months old, he’s today just finishes a 10 day course of antibiotics (well 2x 5 day courses) for a persistent chest infection that got him admitted to hospital 9 days ago. He keeps tugging at his ears but if he has an ear infection presumably the antibiotics would’ve helped. His temp has been between 38.5-39.3 the last 3 days. I had a look in his mouth yesterday and saw 5 new teeth had cut through. Is this likely to be the reason for his temp and ear pulling or does it sound like some sort of infection? I should also add we are struggling to get him to eat or take a bottle. He is still coughing at night but this sounds more asthma like now.

Teething, infections and temperature
I’m sorry to hear he’s still feeling poorly. I would ring your gp for advice/go and see them. My son (he’s a bit older, started with it when he was around 13 months) has been off and on with what we know now as a lung infection and has needed a long (over a month) course of antibiotics to clear it. It took us about 4 month of him being pretty poorly to finally shift it. If in any doubt you’re better off getting it checked out, they may give him some different antibiotics or at least just reassure you. Hope he gets better soon x
We've had this with our son last week. He's 10 months old too. He was none stop crying, had a constant temp no matter what we gave him n stripped him off and we could see a tooth cutting through. We took him out of hours doctors who said it's kind of like a viral infection caused by his teething.
We kept changing between paracetamol and ibuprofen every 3 hours, powders and gels as well. Eventually after a few days, his temp has gone and he no longer cries most the day. His teeth are still hurting him but he's a lot better in himself. Hope your little one feels better soon! X
