I asked the pharmacist at boots and she said not to use bonjela during pregnancy and that she couldn’t sell it to me knowing I am pregnant. She did suggest another boots own mouth ulcer gel which actually states that it is safe in pregnancy
Oh right ok tha is I will have a look on boots tomorrow to see what they have. I am going to register with a new dentist next week so I can get guidance as my gums are so sensitive and bleed alot which is due to pregnancy as they were fine before x
Same here. I’ve had really bad bleeding and tooth ache since becoming pregnant. I actually went to the dentist a few weeks ago the pain was so bad I couldn’t chew. They said it was due to my molars being imparted which they couldn’t remove due to pregnancy x
Its absolutely awful. I can just sit here and my gums bleed for no reason. I am completely winding myself up over dentists but I need to go. I struggled with Turkey as i get pulsating throb I'm my gums. Atleast it's not just me but wouldn't wish it on anyone x
Do also look at using clove oil as a mouthwash to help with sore bleeding gums and also increase vitamin C as that can cause problems with the bleeding gums too
It may be that you're a little low overall
Of course gingivitis causes bleeding gums so your dentist will have proper look but worth trying the others to see if it helps
I’m a dental hygienist. Gums bleed during pregnancy, it’s called peganancy gingivitis. It’s caused by your hormones making the gums more sensitive to plaque. You need to brush where you gums meet the tooth really well to remove the plaque that is causing the bleeding, they will prob bleed like crazy, but you have to persist otherwise it will get worse. You also need to clean between the teeth it’s floss or inter dental brushes.
Bonjela wont help at all.
Might be worth going to the dentists too you might need your teeth professionally cleaned to remove the hard deposits.
Warm salt water mouth washes. Cup of war, water with teaspoon of salt, to rinse.
Thank you very much. You gave me heart palpitations when you said dental hygienist...I am a wimp who is scared of dentists but I will pluck up the courage and go. My gums are really swollen and sensitive so need go sort it as its uncomfortable and I'm not sleeping much from it x
