Ex Gastroschisis baby now 33 weeks pregnant with no bump :(

I was born with Gastroschisis in 1993 and had surgical repair at 2 hours old, I have a 5 inch scar where my belly button should be horizontally, as I have progressed in my pregnancy the skin has stretched slightly but not much, I still fit into my old clothes and jeans, I'm worried about the baby not having much room to grow in there, I had a 32 week growth scan which showwed him to weigh around 3.11 pounds !? I'm under consultant care but I'm expected to go the full 40 weeks unfortunately, has anyone else had similar experience with a scar on the abdomen restricting growth during pregnancy ?

I’m not a medical expert but I honestly don’t think a scar would affect the growth of the baby. I had a tummy tuck so a scan all along my pelvis it didn’t make a difference then you’ve got all those that has c sections and multiple births. I think if it did have an affect we would hear more about it. Tell your midwife your concerns and I hope you get your answers. X

I have quite bad scaring down my belly & along my bikini line. I had my 32 week growth scan last week & my baby is only estimated to weigh 3lb4oz. The consultant has never suggested it's to do with my scars Hun. The only thing I've been told about my scars is that it can sometimes make a c section slightly more complicated due to the scar tissue. It's strange as my bump is measuring fine, it's only the scans saying he is small. X

The scans only give an estimate of weight, my friend had a growth scan for reduced movements at 39 weeks where they estimated her baby to be 8lb 5 at that time, and she was born at 41 weeks weighing 6lb 1! Unless your health care team seem worried I wouldn’t worry too much, some people just don’t get a huge bump but as mentioned before, a scar wouldn’t restrict growth as the skin can still stretch around the scar

Your growth scans sound like baby is totally on track and is growing fine. Your midwives and doctors will tell you if they think anything is wrong and tell you your options but for now just try to relax and enjoy your last few weeks of pregnancy x
