Hi, I’m 20 weeks pregnant and not immune to chickenpox. I have unfortunately been close to a kid who’se been suspicious having chickenpox. What shall I do now? Any advice please? Has anyone have the same experience? X

I'm just about to start an ivf round and kind of had the same fear. My clinic told me there is a vaccine but it holds off you getting chicken pox for two weeks. The incubation period can be two weeks so you can be in contact with someone and not know.

I'd call your midwife and ask what to do.

I would echo that you need to speak to your midwife. It depends on what your exposure was and what symptoms the child is having but you may need something called immunoglobulin if they think you are at risk of the infection.

Thank you very much for your replies. Talked to both midwife and go; they have prescribed anti viral tablets to be taken 4 a day for one week. And if I see any symptom, should increase the tablets to 5 a day xx
