Could anyone who has had an amniocentesis or knows someone who has had one pleasr let me know whst their experience was i am booked for one at the birmingham womens and am scared as baby is moving now so would someone be able to shed some light .

I had one at 18 weeks, didn’t hurt at all, just felt really weird. They scan to check position of baby to make sure the needle is out of the way and they continue to monitor throughout the procedure and then afterwards to check everything is ok. They tell you to keep your feet up and react for 24 hours afterwards so make sure you have transport home sorted. Good luck x
I would organise a friend/relative to pick you up or get a taxi if it’s not too expensive. I was going to walk home (it’s only 20 minutes) and they weren’t happy about it.
