Hi ladies

We are on our 3rd attempt at trying to conceive, I’m due on Wednesday but took a clear blue early detection test this evening (I had crossed my legs from lunch!) only to get a negative result! I completely appreciate that we have not been trying very long compared to the average but once you make that decision you just want it to happen! I guess I’m just looking for a little bit of reassurance as it’s something my husband and I would like to keep private from friends until we have something to announce so comparing TTC stories with friends is tricky! Just keen to hear other people’s experiences. xxx

Maybe try in a day or two with your first wee of the morning when pregnancy levels are more concentrated. I’ve been trying for over a year now and to begin with a was testing all the time, ever hopeful so I know how you feel. Wishing you both Lots of luck! Xx

My first pregnancy took 8 months, second 4 months and I’ve literally just found out I’m pregnant now (period due tomorrow!) and it’s taken 5 months.

Don’t be disheartened! X

Thank you claire16c and huge congratulations! That’s lovely news. Did you use an ovulation testing kit? I’ve been using the clear blue one so think I have ovulation timing fairly right but still no luck!xxx

Thanks! Yes I did! I just bought really cheap ones off eBay/Home health website and then I got a few clear blue ones too :) x

Me and other half expecting our first baby on June 12th. The way we feel it managed to happen was the fact that when I was in the fertile window, he would save himself up for few days before so when we did have sex, there was more of a chance (in our opinions).

Wish you well with it all :) I know difficult but try to relax the best you can as that will help I’m sure and perhaps take some vitamins x

Thank you Starlight_ftm. Congrats on your imminent arrival too, I hope it all goes smoothly for you. Is it your first?

I am going to look at some relaxation techniques as it’s easy to get a little too ‘focused’. Taking vitamin D and folic acid so will see what else can help. We tried a little earlier than previous months and I went from a solid circle on the ovulation test to solid smiley so thought we may have cracked it this month!

Keep us updated on baby’s arrival!xxx

Hi I was trying for about two years using the ovulation strips with no success. The moment we stopped and relaxed. Sort of forget about everything, it happened. I got pregnant the next month with no trying. Hopefully this would help.

Hi Ccopeland, thank you for your advice and I think we do need to take the focus off ‘trying’. Without being too personal- did you focus your trying on your ovulation window or did you just carry on all month?

Hi I took a selection of vitamins god knows if it helped but I was told I wasn’t ovulating a few months back and was referred to a fertility clinic in July. I have somehow miraculously got pregnant thankfully and with fingers crossed it’s be ok this time. I took folic acid, zinc & coenzyme q10 (for healthy eggs) iron, omega 3 fish oils, vit c, d. There’s other supplements if you google but these were the only ones I took. Also forced my bf to take them too.

Ah I’m so pleased for you! Thank you for your advice, did you take them separately or buy one prepregnancy supplement? I was looking at these today in Holland and Barrett. I’m taking folic acid and vit D and forcing the hubby to take vit D and zinc but will add your suggestions. Did you try all through the month or focused around ovulation? My husband travels so he is trying to be home for ovulation week but wondering if we are missing something! Thanks again for your advice, sending lots of best wishes to you.xxx

Thank you we were surprised it did happen, I took them separately not pregnancy supplements I took them for about 3 months before if they did good of not who knows? Also I we had a month off in April because I got really sad when af came again it does wear you down thinking of pregnancy all the time. I also did the opk tests in may which I don’t usually bother I still never got a positive as usual but I got pregnant somehow. Good luck in trying and try not to stress out too much x

Sounds like taking a month off and relaxing helped you. Plus the supplements are worth a try, they can’t hurt! I was wondering if we should take a month off, go on holiday and see if that relaxes us but hubby is keen to press on (& I am too really). So pleased it worked out for you, do you have your scan date yet?xxx

in reply toLPR17

No not yet I’m only 5 weeks I have rang for my booking in appointment 26th June I asked if they’d do an early scan as I miscarried at 12 weeks but no unless you’ve had 3 you do get any. I will be a little bit nervous for that scan but have to be positive it’ll be ok. It’s hard to have a break as you still want to get pregnant we did still manage to hit the right days that month but it didn’t happen anyway but I had a drink not loads and we went away for the weekend. If you know your ovulation day all you can do is try before and after that day. Good luck xx

Hi LPR17 I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant with my first. We tried for 6 months and it happened when I least focused on it. I had been taking pregnacare pre-conception tablets for those 6 months and 3 months before be started trying. I swear by ovulation strips too! I bought 50 for a few pound on eBay and they really help you detect your most fertile days. With those and an ovulation app such as Flo I think it helped us conceive. Stick with it and good luck! X

Hi Hopful85, thank you very much for your advice. I was looking at the pregnacare supplement today, sounds like it would be good try- can only help! I think I’m tracking my ovulation quite well and seeing my peak days but no luck as yet. Thanks again for your advice and best of luck for your new arrival! Take care.xxx
