:-) its a 50 50 guess with that pic. Is it a 12 week picture?

Old wives tale is on the heartbeat. Tale is that females are faster than the males. Mine had 170 heartbeat and is a girl so we fit that tale.

Thanks for replying :-)

It's a 13 weeks 0 days scan.

I have no idea what the HB was, they never told me.

I thought the nub looked like a girl although my feeling is that it's a boy.

They won't really commit to anything till the later scans when they get the inbetween the legs view and everything is formed.

You can't tell the sex from a 12 wk scan. Realistically the earliest is about 16 wks and even then it's never 100%. They might be able to tell at 20wk scan tho.

Hi, you may want to research Ramzi's method. It's supposed to be more scientific and backed up by actual research as opposite to the old wife's tales. The basic premise is that if your placenta is on the right side of your body you will be most likely having a boy, if on the left side, then it's probably a girl. You can apparently determine the gender as early as 6 weeks gestation age. Did your ultrasound technician mention anything about your placenta location, maybe it's in the notes? You can have a wild guess from that... but again it'll be just a guess. You can have a look at this website thegenderexperts.com if you want someone to have a scientific guess, but of course you have to pay Lol!

I'm saying it's a girl (don't take my word for it though :D). Congratulations and good luck! Xx

Hi

Thanks for this. Yes I looked at this. I believe it's on my front as she said it just means I'll have limited feeling of baby as placenta in the way. I think that indicates girl do you know? Although I thought nub was more accurate than ramzi?

Hey, Yes, nub is apparently meant to be more accurate than Ramzi's method. And about the placenta location, it's said that posterior placenta means a boy and anterior (as in your case) means a girl. I had a right posterior and a baby boy so in my case Ramzi's theory worked :) you'll get the most accurate answer at your 20th week scan however sometimes even that can be misleading. Sometimes babies surprise their parents at birth. This is especially common when you are told you will have a girl and in fact it's a boy. Apparently their private parts may not be seen on the scan or be hidden.

Not what you're looking for?
