My baby son (7.5 weeks old) seems to have blocked sniffly nose & hubby has recently had flu. Any advice on how I can help him get rid of the cold please? Should I use Infacol or similar?

Not sure if you can use calpol at such an early age, it may be just two doses until three months but if that's the case, you will probably want to save those doses for his vaccinations, trust me they can get really grumpy after those.
My little one had a cold at this age, I propped up his Moses basket and got a calpol nasal spray. They're great to use before bed or feeds, a lifesaver to unblock their little noses.
Ksbump thank you, that's a great idea! Will get Calpol nasal spray for next week (after jabs) in case still not cleared up. Moses basket propped up already (advice from doc early on - had gastroenteritis a few weeks ago - caught from hubby also as he works in a primary school - as he has hiccups & reflux). Such a worry when they are poorly π₯ will try the nasal spray...
If you are breastfeeding, a couple of drops of breastmilk up their nose does the same job as the nose spray and won't cost you a penny
And infacol might help with wind but won't do anything for a cold xx
My midwife just said to put a bowl of boiling water under the Moses basket to help baby breath if snuffly. The steam helps apparently. π x
Gently squeeze a cotton wool ball soaked in cool boiled water under their nose when they are laying down. This will cause a couple of drops of water to enter their nose. This will help to loosen any dried mucous which they can sneeze out. Make sure it is only a couple of drops of water as that's all that is needed. You may have to wait 5 minutes for a satisfying sneeze. Ask a pharmacist about snufflebabe as they may OK its use despite you child being younger than 3 months. If using snufflebabe rub a small amount on to a Muslim and hasng near the mosses basket. When baby older that 3 months snufflerub is great on their feet if they are coughing.
Rachf, LottyB & Adeline - these are excellent tips, thank you! π have used saline nasal drops recommended by doc last 2 days & helping - will try breastmilk idea. Friends also suggested snuffle babe after I posted pic of saline drops box on FB. Remembered my sister having this in late 80s (& calpol of course). Yep, realised infacol for wind only afterwards (doh).
