I've just had a nosy on the internet for Arabic names and I found Aaryon (don't know how to pronounce it but I imagine its similar to Aaron) and Adam was there too, which is English too. 😊 x

Hi, my husband and I come from different cultural/race/religious backgrounds too. We looked at loads of names, over and over again, lists and lists but in the end decided to give our son solid names from within our own family lines - to give him roots and history to ground him and let him know he belongs. We gave him his dad's name - who was equally named after his own grandad - we've shortened it for everyday use so that there's no confusion but I do like the idea of being able to shout one name for both hubby and son!! And his middle name is my maternal grandads name. I like the idea that one day lo is going to ask why he has the name he has and we're going to be able to tell him the stories about his forefathers and family tree and give him something to feel connected to and very proud of.

Just had a quick think, I could only come up with these...Haroon, Hamid, Karim, Rashid, Adil. I had trouble enough thinking of our daughter's name 😊

What about Ali? What is your partner's name because it should be his name, then his father's name and so on. My son's last name is his father's name and his grandfather's name...and so on like that (my husband has got three last names!) Are you planning to get married?

Sorry to sound obvious but what about Mohammed?

My son's name is Duarozh (pronounced Dwaroj - with the 'j' similar to the 'j' in Bonjour), which is Kurdish :)

My father is Arabic (Egyptian) and I am proud of my heritage. Here is an idea, you can choose an English name that has an Arabic translation. For example, my uncle's name is Adel, which means Just, so he goes by Justin when he comes to visit. Same with my cousin Yousef, goes by Joseph.

I have another uncle, Sami, pronounced Sammy, so that might be a good one! Kareem is also a beautiful name (means generous) and easy to pronounce. Whatever name you pick, I am sure your family will make an effort to learn to pronounce it!

Adam, Daniyal, Benjamin/Benyamin (the brother of prophet Joseph/Yusuf), Danish, Harris, Seth (pronounced as Sha-ith in arabic), Zakariya/Zacharia, Rayan/Ryan (pronounced as Rai-yan in Arabic although the Arabic spelling only has the letters R, Y, An). These are also the names that I'm considering. Hope that helps x
