Just a quick post to see if anyone is giving their LO baby vitamins. HV has advised that I use baby vitamins now my little lady is now on full fat cows milk.
Does anyone know if these actually make a difference to babys' health?
Many Thanks

We've been told to give him vitamins as well (from age 1). I think if my son was on cow's milk I'd give him the vitamins - although he eats well I wonder whether he'd get all the vitamins in his diet and in particular now in winter when we don't have that much sunshine. I think one of the big concerns is Vitamin D which we get from sunshine (amongst others), and apparently British people often have a deficit as we just don't have that much of it, especially in winter. I think it can only be a good thing to give vitamins.
For now we have decided to stick to formula, we've got the 1-2 year old formula which still has all the vitamins in it that he'd need, so we're not giving any additional vitamins.
I refuse to give my daughter them, as you find vitamin d is some fish and cereals and eggs. Even though there isn't really much sun I still make sure my daughter and I go out for at least an hour a day.
As you can see it is really up to the parent. I am a mother of three and one on the way and I do give my children Vitamins if they are poorly and at the beginning of winter just to boost up the Immune system. Also when they were toddlers and fussy with food I wanted to ensure that all their nutritional needs were being met. At other times when they are well and eating a balanced diet I don't give them any. Hope that helps. Do what you think is best for your baby.
