I'm 12 weeks and just seen some brown discharge today as well, had my scan yesterday and everything was fine, most of the posts on here say not to worry but I will check in with midwife tomorrow if it carries on just for my own piece of mind.

IM sorry but brown loss isn't always fine. I have lost 2 babies and both times i lost brown blood / discharge for a week before the heavy red blood flow came.

Tell your midwife about it, she will be able to advise

It's normally old blood being evicted from the body, but it is always advised that you ask a professional whenever anything strange happens

Please go to A&E or ask your GP to refer u for an early scan. I have had 2 miscarriages and when I contacted the hospital they advised me to come to A&E strAight away to be looked at by EGU/EPU

Brown discharge in early pregnancy is normal it is generally caused by old blood from the implantation of the fertilised egg into the lining of the womb. Quiet alot of the women I see in antenatal appointments experience this discharge, if you have fresh bleeding with abdominal cramps then I would suggest going to a&e or EPAU to be checked however try not to be too anxious as again this can be implatation associated and is sometimes the reason women dont find out they are pregnant until they are a few months pregnant as they think this is a period.

Please, please, please go to A&E and get checked out. It makes me quite angry when people say brown blood is fine. I suffered 2 horrific m/cs in 2011 and both times for up to one week I lost brown blood. I kept being told brown blood / discharge was ok because its old blood. It may be ok sometimes, but also sometimes its not!

when i was suffering my first m/c I told the ultrasound lady i thought it was all going to be ok as was only brown discharge, she shook her head, and said that brown discharge / blood may be old, but it is still important to get it checked out because its blood none the less. For me personally my discharge didn't change to red blood until my body was getting rid of the baby at the end of my m/c.

i am not saying this to frighten you, but I was told on here brown blood was ok and for me it turned out it wasn't. So please, go and get checked out, to put your mind at rest if nothing else.

Can i also add with my first and second m/c the pain didn't come until my body was getting rid of what it had too. Even when the brown discharge turned somewhat heavier I still felt no pain, it wasn't until the horrible end part did I start to feel horrendous pain.

for me it didn't happen like the movies where there is suddenly horrendous pain and blood everywhere, it felt like a horrifically slow process. So please be aware there doesn't have to be pain in the beginning.
