My little boy is now 7months old and I had bad postnatal depression when I had him but now im all better and cope really well I want another baby, but I am so scared it will happen again as it took 6months to get fully better and still I suppose I have my bad moments. (before I had my son i had a miscarriage at 21/3 weeks and i had alot of problems since then, my councillor thought it is what triggered my postnatal depression) I suppose id like to know if any other mums had postnatal depression and did it happen with any subsequent babies and what do you all recommend as far as having more children?

Postnatal depression and wanting another baby.
I suffer with my hormones and have suffered postnatal depression this time it was in the form of anxiety I have never experienced it this badly before and it was awful I still struggle with it but it's a lot less than what it was. .. I'd say it kickd in at about 10-12 weeks all I can say is if ur on medication then u should stay on it if safe to do so. .. and just be very aware of how ur feeling and if u can't take meds while pregnant then start them ASAP after baby is born x
Hey,
It's great to hear you're coping well
Have you spoken to your OH about how you feel?
I'm expecting my first child in a few weeks, and have had depression in the past. I'm terrified that I'm going to be depressed again.
But, just because I've suffered before does not necessarily mean I'll suffer again! This will apply to you, too. Although we're in different situations, I guess we're both scared of the 'what if?', that unknown.
I don't know what type of counselling/therapy you had for the PND, but I would suggest looking at revisiting that as a possibility for when you do decide to have more children. If you still see a professional, then speak to them about your concerns. Obviously, they can't tell you when to have children, but they will help you to work through your feelings.
Also, techniques such as CBT are really excellent, if you've not heard or tried it, I would recommend it (you can buy books).
I think that if you feel 'at risk', then preparing yourself practically, but not expecting to be depressed, is the best thing you can do.
Sorry I can't be of any more help X
