Hi everyone, need some advise please baby is now 7weeks old everything has been good up until now. Baby seems to be straining and crying when trying to pass poo and now his poo has gone from a yellow colour to very dark smelly green poo, is this something to worry about?? Baby is formula fed (sma gold).

Now this is dangerously third hand and lacking any expertise whatsoever... But I have read that green poo can mean lactose intolerance. Worth talking to your health visitor? Xx
Hey. With stools like that I'd be inclined to just pop to the GP and get him checked. Could be a number of things causing it so better to get someone check him over as well x
Has your baby had his/her's 1st set of immunisations ?
The first few weeks after those "imms" can make a baby's poo diaoreah like & a bit green at times but he / she shouldn't be straining.
As your baby is formula fed have you or do you give him / her some cooled boiled water to drink inbetween feeds ?
No he's got his first jabs in two weeks. He is formula fed and has been since he was about two weeks old. I did start breast feeding but it wasn't for me I was too emotional and was scared he wasn't getting enough milk from me, plus didn't have that close bond for first week as he had to go into special care unit for low blood sugar. Anyways he doesn't have any problems bottle feeding in fact he loves his food and is quite greedy lol. I noticed the green poo couple days ago and today he's been crying a lot more like he's a pain trying to poo. I read up on it and seen about the giving of cool boiled water so I've given him some and gave him a massage . He's settled down now so will have to wait and see what happens.
Oh I see.
Yeah baby boys do tend to eat a fair bit more during the 1st few months.
I also formula fed my son as he was also a greedy bugger LOL.
Yea, The cooled boiled water should help to sort him out alot as if he likes his milk he could of just maybe got a bit constipated.
