The only thing at such a young age is little sips of cooled boiled water. Massage the belly and use legs in cycling motion. Hope your little man is ok. Ask midwife if you get concerned
thank you o will get in contact with them x
I would ask the midwife if it is continuing. My cousin's baby was also very constipated and uncomfortable, they later realised he is lactose intolerant and now he is given special formula and much improved. Hope he feels better soon!
thank you I will get in contact with them x
Not sure what to do on the poo, is it hard or still soft? if it’s soft it’s likely he’s doing what all babies do and fight one muscle against the other until one wins out! (Which is normal, it looks like they are struggling but they’ve not yet learnt to relax their sphincter muscles when they push) The belly button sounds normal as long as it only goes on for a short while (ours lasted just a few days bleeding then scabbing), I asked my HV about it too when my little one was born. Hope the constipation get better soon x
i couldnt get hold of my mw today....I done his legs in a cycling motion today and it seemed to work so far he has had 3 poos but it still looks like he struggling to go.... ive got my hv round on friday so I will be talking to her about it.
his belly button is still bleeding its not loads but it keeps sticking togerther but then it is scabbing up as well so it might be getting better.... ive been cleaning it with cotton wool and warm water
Is he breast fed or formula? When I had my first 8 1/2 years ago she was formula fed and really constipated as well the nurses told me to switch her to a less iron fortified formula which helped tons
he is bottle fed.... ive been giving him sma milk... he was ok to start with the constipation has only started this week.... I done the leg movement on him yesterday and it worked ive been rubbing his tummy to see if that would help but so far that aint worked it's only moving the legs thats working.... ive got my hv round tomoz so im going to have a chat with her
I've been mixed feeding my baby since he was a few days old. I was giving him the odd Aptamil bottle and he seemed to struggle every time he did a poo. Switched to Hipp and pooing got a lot easier for him.
My little one had this when he was younger five boiled water with a pinch of brown sugar. Don’t know how but it works. It can cause a poop explosion though
My infant feeding team consultant told me not to do this not even just water as the only thing babies should be putting in their tummies is milk. She said that the reason it seems to work is that the baby is basically having a bad reaction to having water in their tummy, it’s not actually solving a problem.
yer my hv said not to give them water not till he about a month old.... I just got to keep massaging his back and tummy and do his legs in cycling motion.... his belly is still adapting to his milk so thats why he is struggling to go poo plus he is using muscles hes never used beforem... thats what my hv said any way
"babies magic tea" is a blend of herbs especially mended for babies for treating constipation and colic. you can learn about it on maternity tea dot com.
ive sorted it he wasnt constipated.... he is lactose intolerance and struggling to digest his milk which was making him struggle to go for a poop
