What are the possible implications and how acurate is this method of measurement?

What is dawes redman criteria? Also i'm a very 'slight' person and they measured my uterus at 28 weeks when I'm 31.
I don't know what the Dawes Redman criteria is, but do you mean when they measured you with a tape measure you measured 28cm but you are 31 weeks? Was the midwife concerned? Usually they will just keep an eye on you to begin with. They have a tolerance of 2cm either way so you're only 1 extra cm smaller. I was always bigger by a cm or two until right at the end and then one appointment I was 3cm bigger and they found protein in my sample, they just asked me to return the next week to check. I had a different midwife and she measured me as just 1cm bigger than my weeks, so according to her my uterus had shrunk! I had a lovely healthy baby at 40+4wks weighing 8lbs11. So if they are measuring you smaller you'll probably have a smaller baby, which is the right size for you.
Unless the midwife was concerned you shouldn't worry, I don't think it's that precise a science, different midwives will judge where your uterus is differently. If she was worried she would send you for a scan and further checks. Good luck with it all.
Thank you for the reply it was reassuring yep it was from measuring with the tape measure. I have a growth scan on Monday so I guess we will have to wait and see. I just wonder how common it is to measure small but in the end it makes no difference and goes to'plan'?

Hi hun I measured small with my first (I am 5ft 3 size 8-10) I was only a cm or 2 smaller than my weeks but mw was never concerned and I never had a growth scan.i think for the tape to be accurate the same person needs to do it but it doesn't usually work that way! Enjoy having a extra peak at baby! Xx
