32 weeks now! Not long! However its getting increasingly difficult to sleep, in working 5days a week and its killing me! Worked 8 hrs yesterday on my feet all day! Now in back up on my way to work after only getting 2 hours sleep. Before i was pregnant i was drinking monster energy at least one a day! This morning i feel like giving in and just having one for a pick me up before i pass out! Wondering/hoping its safe! I have has swigs of it during pregnancy and it hasn't done anything but in wondering about a whole can? Haha

i feel like the living dead!!

What about a cup of coffee? Sounds like ur doing too much and ur getting overtired...need a break! X

Hi, hun

I can only imagine how you're feeling ( & I honestly do sympathise)

Before pregnancy I'd never really used to drink "coke" but i find myself having to have at least 1 can every 3-4 days to help my energy levels.

I know the ingredients is not all good, but it's honestly the only thing what helps me from feeling as if im going to pass out, espicially having the 1 child to run-around after with school-runs & etc....

xx

Never been one for energy drinks (used to work in off license and seen effects of over indulging, really not good :/ ). Maybe try sports drinks? Know if am feeling really tired sports drinks can just help with that little extra energy and are safe to drink while pregnant. Might not be as instantly effective but supposed to be longer lasting x

Try lucozade if your worried about drinking monster! As thats defined safe! Saying that I have had a few whole cans of monster juiced (orange can) during this pregnancy just because I really craved one I thinks its more of a personal choice rather than a definite no no x

look up the dangers of caffeine in pregnancy to see what u are risking. Most monster drinks are 32mg caffeine per 100ml of the juice and a can is typically 500ml. A whole can should therefore contain 160mg caffeine. I think the recommended is 200mg a day when pregnant so a can should be ok that way but maybe its the other ingredients that are harmful, like the ginseng or taurine. be careful and maybe ask advice off a med professional xx

Is it time to ask your employer for a risk assessment and (even slight) change of role? Can't imagine being on my feet 8 hrs a day at 32 weeks...

I know some employers are nicer than others and some can be more flexible than others depending on your job, but it might be worth looking up your rights on this one? Or is there an adaptation like being able to sit down for just 5 mins every hour? My employer has been fairly good but there were times when my male boss was quite reluctant/sulky about reasonable change requests...lucky for me he did them though...(can't remember my rights now at 36+6). Do you have an occupational health dept who could back you up?

If not, what about energy from drinking lots of water and/or fruit juice and snacks through the day and have a proper carb and protein breakfast -I have egg on toast some mornings when I have time and want more energy before work...

Decreasing energy and increasing tiredness has been particularly part of the end of my pregnancy and just thinking if you're similar to me you might need a more medium-term solution! (Depending on when your maternity leave starts..)

In the end though only you know your own body and limits and employer and what you can cope with!! You've got to do what you got to do to cope and get you and your baby through.

Good luck with it all :0)

My boss is really good to me! IM allowed to leave whenever i want for maternity but planned to stay till 38weeks at the moment. Im part of a team of 5 managers in our work but due to 3 being off for the past 6 weeks ive been working non stop haha. From next week we should have all of us back so the amount i will be doing will drop significantly! Perfect timing if you ask me haha! As for the energy thing i made it through yesterday with a bottle of water and a large cuppa tea and ended up getting a long 10hour sleep! Even if i was up ever hour or so in pain so feeling abit more refreshed today. Even knowing in back to work again today! Haha
