We was looking at car seats and I must admit, I'm really bamboozled. Have any of u ladies made a choice between isofix or standard belt up? If so, what made u choose what u did?

Hi huni I had isofix with my first which was good especially on wet rainy days but with both my boys ive use belt up with no issues. Are you thinking about getting one that fits to chassis of pushchair too? Xx

no i wasnt to be honest. Just wondered if one was claimed to be safer than the other or whether they are both the same. The price difference is mega. I'm just confused with all the different products we r supposed to buy, this one i thought would be easy, pick a seat according to age, fit it in ur car and bobs ur uncle....apparently they can find a way to complicate that too lol. What made u change from isofix to belt up? xx

I used a belt-up when my son was born ( 4yrs ago) & Im going to use the same sort of system belt-up car seat with this baby mainly because the seat can be fitted on-top of the pushchair im going to use when we'll be out & about. I find most of the Isofix car seats quite "bulky" & a bit complicated myself not to mention the fact they are just restricted to the car.

But thats just my personal view & you may find it easier / simpler to use a different method.

Lol im not sure if one is safer than the other but im sure in the interwebby world there are some sort of facts lol. Nothing paticularly its just I got the isofix base free with my daughters travel system else I prob wouldn't have bothered lol my boys have got the same and I get on fine with it.tbh I haven't missed or thought about base haha....although that could be down to baby brain :-) I would have a chat with staff at mothercare or somewhere like that hun xx

I was told that isofix is just to make it easier, but you have to have your car checked on the manufacturers (of the car seats) website to see if your car is suitable for the isofix base, as we bought the maxi cosi pebble car seat and wanted the isofix base but our car wasn't suitable as it was too old, I still have no issue with using the old fashioned way of doing the seat belt round the car seat I still feel my daughter is just as safe :) I think more than anything it's personal preference too! :)

We have the maxi-cosi carbriofix with family fix base... Have belted it once (in LO's gramps car) - felt REALLY unstable compared with the isofix.

I did a lot of reading and research re: car seats to find the one I thought came out as safest. It was close between cabrio-fix and the britax baby-safe

Get family fix rather than isofix as can use family fix for older not just babies. I have one as I have a 2 door car and think it is easier to put the seat in and out rather than having to climb in to fasten the seatbelt around every time x

From what I've read, seatbelt ones are as safe as isofix as long as they are correctly fitted. But it's really easy not to fit them properly every time. I'm personally getting one with a base, as it seems so much easier, and getting it fitted at a store (lots of places do this I think).

My sister has Isofix for her 10 months old and she say that she is so pleased she did pay the extra. She finds it so easy just to plonk the seat down and hear the little beep which lets you know that the seat is secured. So much easier thanhaving to reach through and make sure the seat belt is properly secure each time. They are also supposed to be safer as they are actually fixed to the chassi of the car. I am 11 weeks pregnant and will be looking at nothing but Isofix when buying the seat for my little one x
