So the second sweep i had was not enough to get things properly started, and last Tuesday, at 8am, we went in for our induction. I had the pessary and 9ish and was 3-4cm, then it got tricky... I was hypersensitive to it so by 12pm had gone from none to contracting 6/7 times every 10mins. Needless to say they took it out, but the effects stayed and i was on gas and air by 1pm! We got taken on to delivery suite at 3.30pm where we set up camp for the night. Come 8.30pm I was only 5cm and so had my waters broken! Then the pain came and i promptly requested diamorphine, mmmmhhh good stuff. We contined through the night and were 10cm around 4.30am. As bubs was so chilled, they gave me 3 hrs to disend and push, i got him down low but they decided vontuse was needed. So they began, bubs head was born at 8.24am on 24th July but then my worse fear ca-me true, shoulder dystoria. So nice emergency situation, lots of people, doctors trying to rotate him. Luckily at 8.29am the rest of him came. He was relatively unscathed and didnt need any special treatment. But mummy's placenta decided to stay in place, despite the efforts of an evil woman who tried to yank it out- who shall receive a formal complaint, worse pain of the whole thing. She failed and off to theatre to remove it manually and stitch me. Finally got to see my little boy properly at 12pm. Later i was offered a transfusion as blood iron was 7.3, after the transfusion it had increased to 6.2!?? So i had another and was released on friday, at 7.3 level. Only to return on saturday as was very symptomatic at home, so another 2nights and a third transfusion and i left monday with levels at 9.7.
Through it all big bubs, Taylor, who weighed in at 9lbs 6oz did fab and his weight increased by 20g at his 5day check in.
So happy he is here and with us now back home and happy. The story sounds bad but the labour itself was good and would definitely do it again!!! xxx
