Weird dreams...

I had quite a distressing dream the other night.

Having been studying my 20 week anomaly scan pictures; I have been thinking that the legs (or one of them) of my baby appears to be stumped just below the knee. Now this is probably the way the leg is positioned but it's obviously been playing on my subconscious. The sonographer did ask me before the scan if I wanted to know if there were any problems to which I said I did so I'm sure there is nothing physically wrong. I also can't see the arms. I'm pretty sure the sonographer did say at the time "theres the arms" and "theres the legs" but I guess they know what they are looking at whilst I was just marvelling at the images!

Well, back to the dream...

I dreamt that I gave birth at home, on my own, in my bed. The baby came out perfectly clean (no gunk lol) and no umbilical cord attached however she didn't have fully formed arms. They cut of to stumps just below the elbows.

I woke up feeling quite upset!

I so can't wait to have the 4D scan now although I will be stressing out until I see the fully formed arms and legs (including hands and feet). Gosh, this baby growing is stressful isn't it! :P

Hi Armywag.what a dream!but you not on your own.weird dreams during pregnancy are "normal".i'm sure you dreamt about baby without arms because you were thinking about scan picture.i think a lot about labour now (freaking out) and every night i dream about it.its not preety and i'm really distressed in the morning.if there was something wrong the sonographer would definitely tell you.they always count arms,legs,etc.20week scan is very detailed one so honestly dont worry.4d will be amazing.i had at done and just couldnt believe what i was seeing(baby moving around, puting tang out, hands in her mouth or even little toes).when is your scan?i'm sure that will help you put your mind at rest. Good luck hun xx

I'm sure it is all fine, I think they would have noticed any deformity such as that during the scan. My 4D scan is on 8th Sept so 7 weeks today. x

The sonographer doesn't write any notes on the 'bingo card' (as it's called here). I saw the little legs flapping away on the 12 week scan and I know she did point out the legs and arms at the time so I'm confident it's just me worrying over nothing.

Had an email today from the company doing the 4d scan saying they had to change the dates of the scan but the new dates don't fit in with when my husband is home on leave and also doesn't fit in with the best gestation period for the type of scan. Absolutely gutted - it's the first thing that had upset me enough to make me cry since I found out I was expecting. :'(

We don't have a regular clinic on the island; this company come over once a month. I spoke to my husband and he wants me to still have the scan so i've swallowed my pride and told them that although I was still extremely disappointed, I have rebooked for the earlier clinic on 25 Aug. I will be 27+3 then but hopefully I will see if the placenta has moved and see the baby's arms and legs lol

God I was so cross yesterday! At least I will have a DVD of the scan so my husband will see the little one when he gets home :) x
