Hi girls jus wanted to share my experience and thoughts on breast feeding. I have been in two minds weather to try it or not I no the benefits are great and well aware of the pros and cons but I was still undecided the thought of breast feeding in public put me off the idea and I didn't breast feed my first child due to premature birth complications so I was even more scared. I spoke to my midwife regarding my worries and she put me in for the e breast feeding workshop at local hospital my partner couldn't make it due to work commitments so I took a friend along for support. I thought the class was great there was 8 pregnant ladies there with extra people as supporters were we could learn a little more abit it what to really expect and how to do it. There is loads of additional support from the advisors not only now but when baby arrives and for however long we need them for after they even come into hospital to see you if you need them to when baby arrives I could believe the service and info and received and I feel much more confident I will be able to manage breast feeding. If anyone is having similar worries or in two minds I would defo advise taking a breast feeding work shop.

Just thought I would share xx

Been to one as well found it very helpful it's my first baby I'd like to breastfeed as well.am planning to stay one more day in hospital after giving birth next week to get brestfeeding help from midwives......she said we can.x

I went to one the day I went into labour!! It's my 1st baby and breastfeeding is very important to me. I would have been devastated if I couldn't do it however was mindful not to put too much pressure on myself! Much to my relief my little man is feeding like a champion! The class really helped and am positive it made feeding easier! I'm not going to lie to you it's hard work as partners can't help out but so very rewarding! Good luck with it, I'm sure you will be great! X

Awi cant imagine it been easy but well done for doing it. I plan to express and bottle feed at 4 weeks so that my partner can help we had a few discussions as hes all up for me feeding but was worried he wont be able to help thro the night and things but the breastfeeding advisor said its best to introduce the bottle at 4 weeks. If it worka out the way I plan I will be buying or hiring an electronic breast pump as there meant to be much quicker then manuals. Xx

Aw there is loads of parenting sites you can go on to read up on it I have seen a couple of videos on cow and gate web site showing you the breastfeeding positions and how to latch on have a look at those they also have live chats with out midwives and mums how are breastfeeding which I fou d really helpful. Your nearest surestart should have support groups on too so try those av been to my firtst one today found it very helpful. There is plenty more f support around to help you be successful its not for every one but even one day of breastfeeding is better than none at all. Worth a try best not to give yourself a hard time over it tho. Theres none one judging. Theres plenty support ftom us here too av not tried it yet but if there is anything I can help with you know where i am. When are you due? Xx

This is really interesting, I have never heard of the workshops before. I tried feeding my first but was very un succesful through lack of support and we ended up back in hospital a week later and my son a drip for 2 days through him not feeding properly. I didn't even get a chance with my 2nd as I got taken off down to theatre after delivery and he was hungry so my husband bottle fed him. I really want to try with my 3rd but am terified that am I not going to be able to do it and I am just gonna be sat up all night trying to get the baby to feed and the baby being hungry and I will feel like a faliure. Formula is so expensive that I just want to give it a shot.

I have got my 25w appointment of Wednesday so am going to enquire about it thanks.

Ae thats awful at least you tried tho. To be honest my daughter is only 5 and I have noticed a maseive Increase in breastfeeding support this time round compared to when I had my daughter. There are also alot more places out and about with rest rooms for breastfeeding as some people are u comfortable feeding In busy public places. The work shops has made my decision for me that I want to give it a go I have been In 2 minds for months. No dought about it it will be hard work at first but doing research and watching videos will really help you. Like I said I an earlier comment support from advisors are there in hospital from the start and can come to your home for additional support for as long as you need them too. Sure start was really useful yesterday too so defo have a look Into your near by centers and baby cafes. Where are you from? Xx
